Cleveland Honor Killing: Muslim migrant charged in ex-wife’s murder, human remains found in container, “abuse of a corpse”

Fahad Saeed was arrested for murdering his ex-wife.  Another Muslim was also arrested in the case. Court records show Amar Sami, 22, pleaded guilty to obstructing justice for lying to investigators who were looking into her disappearance.  Islamic honor code of violence. Sources tell FOX 8 News, surveillance video shows Sami and Saeed purchasing shovels after Rosa Al Dhannoon’s disappearance.

Fahad Mohammed Saeed, 27, of Cleveland, also was charged in the indictment with kidnapping, felonious assault, aggravated burglary, stalking and abuse of a corpse in connection with the death of 25-year-old Roaa Al-Dhannoon. She was last seen Oct. 16 at her Lakewood, Ohio, apartment and was reported missing by friends three days later.

Saeed was already in Cuyahoga County Jail after a Lakewood Municipal Court judge sentenced him to 180 days in jail in January for violating a protection order given to Al-Dhannoon. The couple divorced in September, and Al-Dhannoon was granted sole custody of their young son, Assistant Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Blaise Thomas said.

Police found her body in Big Creek Reserve in Brooklyn where they unearthed a container of human remains. They do not describe the condition of the body.

A recent survey shows Muslim men by and large approve of honor killing wives.

Muslims commit 91 percent of honor killings worldwide. 84 percent of honor killings in the United States were done by Muslims. A manual of Islamic law certified as a reliable guide to Sunni orthodoxy by Al-Azhar University, the most respected authority in Sunni Islam, says that ‘retaliation is obligatory against anyone who kills a human being purely intentionally and without right.’ However, ‘not subject to retaliation’ is ‘a father or mother (or their fathers or mothers) for killing their offspring, or offspring’s offspring.’ (‘Umdat al-Salik o1.1-2). In other words, someone who kills his child incurs no legal penalty under Islamic law.” In other words, Islamic law sets no penalty for a parent who kills his child. Also, the legal codes of Jordan, Syria, and other Muslim countries have substantially reduced penalties for honor murders as compared to other murders, and Islamic clerics have resisted efforts to stiffen penalties for honor killings.

Lakewood woman’s ex-husband indicted in connection to her death

LAKEWOOD, Ohio – Roaa Al-Dhannoon’s ex-husband, Fahad Mohammed Saeed, has been indicted in connection to her death.

Saeed, 26, is charged with aggravated murder, murder, kidnapping, felonious assault, aggravated burglary, burglary, violating a protection order, gross abuse of a corpse, theft, telecommunication fraud and tampering with evidence and possessing criminal tools, authorities said during a press conference Thursday morning at the Lakewood Police Department.

He is scheduled for his arraignment at 8:30 a.m. June 2, court records show.

Saeed could face up to life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted, Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley said.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Officers and Lakewood police announced Wednesday that remains found in a container Monday near a Brooklyn ravine belong to Al-Dhannoon.

Investigators would not discuss the details about how she died or how her body got there at Thursday’s press conference. Investigators identified her using her fingerprints.

Al-Dhannoon, 25, of Lakewood, was last seen Oct. 16, 2016 at her Edgewater Drive apartment in Lakewood. A family member reported her missing Oct. 19.

Al-Dhannoon was found near the ravine behind an apartment building on Memphis Avenue near Tiedeman Road. The cause of her death is still being determined.

Family and friends were concerned for her well-being because she had never been away from her son. He is 4 years old now, authorities said at the press conference.

Investigators with Lakewood police, the FBI and Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley’s office believe Al-Dhannoon was kidnapped and possibly killed, assistant Cuyahoga County prosecutor Blaise Thomas said earlier this month.

Saeed, was sentenced for violating a restraining order before she disappeared. He is accused of contacting her and their son.

He pleaded guilty in Lakewood Municipal, according to court records. He is currently serving a six-month sentence.

Another man, Ammar Sami, 21, pleaded no contest to obstruction of justice in her disappearance and was found guilty. He is scheduled to be sentenced at 11 a.m. May 25, court records show.

Authorities say he provided false information to the Lakewood Police Department and the Cleveland Division of the FBI.

Lakewood police, the Cleveland FBI and the Medical Examiner’s Officer concentrated on the ravine located along a stretch of Big Creel south of Memphis Avenue and east of Tiedeman Road.

Authorities came across the container with the biological remains. The FBI’s Evidence Response Team sifted through dirt near the Big Creek behind Parkview Estate Apartments.
