A foster mum who took in a child refugee has told of her horror after discovering he was a “menacing” grown adult.

Julie welcomed the man into her family after social workers said he was a 12-year-old who needed a place to stay.

Speaking on Loose Women , she said when she met him, she immediately thought he wasn’t 12, “but he needed a home and I didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings”.

Despite a dentist putting the refugee’s age between 18 and 21, the boy was averaged out at 16 years old, considering he’d said he was 12.

Speaking about his behaviour, Julie said: “I became very frightened, he became quite menacing.

“There would be these phone calls, and then his manner would change, and he’d become quite threatening.”

She then went on to recount the time she caught him staring at a photo of her and her daughter on fridge, “as if he was trying to intimidate me through my daughter”.

She added: “I thought, ‘Don’t turn around’, but I could see what he was doing through the corner of my eye.

“He then walked up behind me, and I can still feel his breath on my neck.”

Julie then explained how police came to arrest him when the family found messages to family, “laughing about how he’d lied about his age”.
