Imam Defends His Jew-Killing Sermon in Copenhagen

Mundhir Abdallah, a Lebanon-based imam who recently quoted the Islamic hadith about killing Jews on the Day of Judgment during a sermon at a mosque in Copenhagen, has defended his sermon and complained that he was set up. He also claims that it is Muslims who are the victims and it is their mosques who are being burned.

First of all, if he quoted it, he quoted it-pure and simple. The context of the hadith is not in dispute. It openly advocates the killing of Jews.

But don’t blame Imam Abdallah. He didn’t make up the hadith. It is a quote from the Prophet Mohammad, and it is widely accepted as a “strong” hadith by the leading Islamic schools of thought over the centuries. That means it is believed to be factual and historically accurate.

I recall attending an inter-faith event at Chapman University in 2009 and asking an imam about that hadith. I got a tap dance, but he implied that it was not a reliable hadith. (That’s what they tell non-Muslims who ask.)

I would also point out that if mosques are burning (or being bombed) it is almost exclusively due to the centuries-old internecine conflict between Sunni and Shi’ite Muslims, which dates back to the death of Mohammad and who should succeed him. Christians and Jews are certainly not burning down mosques, but the churches in the Middle East are sure burnin, especially in Iraq, Syria and Egypt.

These radical, hate-filled imams need to be told that verses like this have no place in the West and are not welcomed. I hope the Danes keep this guy out of their country in the future.
