Marco Rubio Comments on Venezuelan Protests

It’s been about two months since protests in Venezuela erupted because of Nicolas Maduros’ oppressive regime. The failures of communism/socialism and the living and economic conditions Venezuelans find themselves in has caused droves of citizens to hit the streets, feeling like they have nothing to lose. People have been starving, have died during the protests, the government has used excessive force, but the protests continue.

Florida Senator Marco Rubio has chimed in on twitter by sharing support for the protests and saying that the Maduro regime will one day face justice for the human rights violations they’ve committed against the Venezuelan people.

In a string of tweets, Marco Rubio shared some thoughts and also retweeted some posts that give an update on what the Venezuelan people are currently going through.

Marco Rubio and President Donald Trump met with Lilian Tintori, wife of political prisoner Leopoldo Lopez, earlier in the year in order to discuss the turbulence in Venezuela. Leopoldo Lopez has not been seen or heard of in days, which has caused the Venezuelan people to fear that something has happened to him. Senator Rubio has also shared Tintori’s updates on the request to see Lopez, and the Florida Senator added that “soldiers… should remember their oath to protect not oppress.”
