Trump Confirms That He Still Favors Communist Healthcare

Just as the goal of socialism is communism, the goal of federal meddling in the health insurance industry is to impose the leftist Unholy Grail, single-payer (a euphemism for communist) healthcare. From the beginning, many assumed that even Democrats knew ObamaCare would fail; it was designed to crash and bring down free market health insurance with it. Moving some deck chairs around and then renaming ObamaCare the American Health Care Act won’t change the ultimate outcome: a healthcare system directly run by the federal government. Yesterday Trump confirmed that he has no problem with this:

“[The AHCA is] a very good bill right now,” he told the media while sitting next to Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull. …

“I shouldn’t say this to our great gentleman and our friend from Australia, because you have better healthcare than we do,” he said.

Detractors of the president noted that Australia’s health care system was a “single payer” system, something that Democrats have advocated for the United States for decades, but has been rejected by conservatives.

Rejected by conservatives, but not by Trump.

As a candidate, Trump had advocated for a single payer health care system, most notably during the first debate of the Republican primary. As late as January he seemed to still hold some affinity for the policy, saying, “We are going to have insurance for everybody. I am going to take care of everybody.”

Maybe insisting on conservative principles wasn’t so crazy after all, even if it has caused some to be denounced for “moral preening” by talk radio lickspittles.
