Bernie Sanders Made Over $1 Million Hawking Socialism Last Year

Socialism has never led to anything but economic stagnation at best, and often results in tyranny and genocide. Why do people continue to promote it? Maybe it’s for a classic capitalist reason — they can make a good buck:

Thanks in large part to his successful foray into authorship, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) made more than $1 million in 2016. That’s according to his latest U.S. Senate financial disclosure, which he filed Sunday after receiving a 20-day extension.

In addition, his wife makes somewhere between $192,000 and $815,000 from retirement mutual funds. Presumably a large percentage of this is from the golden parachute under which she floated off to luxury after bankrupting Burlington College. We would know more, but Sanders cagily refuses to release his tax returns.

No wonder he can afford a $600,000 summer house.

His primary source of income is writing books extolling the expropriation of other people’s wealth.
