NJ Democrat Devine Doubles Down On Call To Violence Against Republicans

Self-declared “master Democratic Party campaign strategist” James Devine of Rahway doubled down on his assertion that Democrats are “at war” with Republicans.

Devine told The Asbury Park Press that James Hodgkinson, the looney tune who gunned down Congressman Steve Scalise and three others yesterday before being shot dead by U.S. Capitol Police, was exercising his Second Amendment Rights to defend himself against duly elected tyrannical Republicans practicing baseball.

Devine in an interview said by using Republicans’ gun-rights rhetoric, one could make the case that Scalise’s shooter, James Hodgkinson, was utilizing his Second Amendment rights.

“…Yesterday’s events are the result of escalating rhetoric and vitriol that has been evident in our political system culminating with the election of our president and the chickens came home to roost, you know?”

“Or Sen. Rand’s charge that the Second Amendment wasn’t so that people could hunt rabbits, it was so they could fight against a tyrannical government,” he added. “Well, now that we have a tyrannical government, to use another Republican’s words, James Hodgkinson is a citizen availing himself of his Second Amendment remedies.”

Fortunately, the New Jersey Democratic Party condemned Devine’s #HuntRepublicans and #HuntRepublicanCongressman social media posts, in an interview with app.

A spokesman for New Jersey Democratic State Committee Chairman John Currie said the organization “is in no way associated with Mr. Devine’s hashtag.”

“We reject incitements to violence and deplore such sensationalism,” said the spokesman, Matt Farrauto.

Deborah Howlett, a faculty member at Rutgers University, the former Executive Director of New Jersey Policy Perspective and former Governor Jon Corzine’s Director of Communications in 2008 and 2009 took exception to MMM’s characterization to her “reaction” to one of Devine’s offensive facebook posts as a “like.”  In a comment on MMM’s facebook page,

Howlett said she never “liked” Devine’s post. She said she clicked on the gay pride flag emoticon and has since taken the emoticon down.

“It had nothing to do with the post and was entirely inadvertent. In fact, I don’t “like” the post or agree with it. But I like even less your vicious attack on my character without even bothering to check with me before publishing. Not how I learned journalism,” Howlett wrote.

Howlett wrote, “Art, don’t be an ass,” when MMM publisher Art Gallagher wrote that he was glad she took the emoticon down.

Art likes that so many New Jersey Democrats think of him that way.
