WaPo Breathlessly Reports That the Wealthy Protect Their Wealth

Scroll down past some of the hysterical climate B.S., and today’s Washington Post features a shocking story. The wealthy attempt to protect their wealth from confiscation!

In a newly released paper, researchers in Scandinavia and the United States use the Swiss and Panamanian leaks [of private banking information] to show that global tax evasion is likely much more prevalent than previously thought. Their estimates indicate that the top 0.01 percent of the wealth distribution own about half of all offshore assets and may be hiding roughly a quarter of their wealth offshore. …

Their estimates show that the wealthiest people are getting away with paying far less than their fair share.

Only Marxists can keep a straight face while denouncing the wealthy for not paying their “fair share.” If the outlandish percentage of taxes that the wealthy are expected to pay were anything close to fair, they wouldn’t have to hide their money.

In addition to providing new insight into the nature of tax evasion, the researchers say their findings probably mean that economists have significantly underestimated inequality.

You can’t get rid of wealth inequality without getting rid of wealth. Liberals are fine with that. After all, wealth hurts the climate, according to leftist ideology.

Imagine the first enterprising humans who developed agriculture. They must have had to hide the harvest, or thugs would have stolen it, making their ingenuity and labor pointless.

The biggest advance mankind ever made was beginning to figure out how to protect what we have made from looters. Only to the extent that it is able to do this can mankind flourish.
