Marijuana Legalization Slippery Slope Leading to Magic Mushrooms

California’s Los Angeles station, ABC 7, is reporting that Magic Mushrooms are working themselves down the path to legalization just like Marijuana did.

The slippery slope argument is in full gear as a ballot initiative aimed at de-criminalizing mushrooms containing the hallucinogen psylocybin has cleared its first hurdle.  The petition needs 365,000 signatures to be placed on a future ballot.

With the super-majority of Democrats holding firm to the reins of both houses of California’s legislature, and a Gavin Newsom governorship looming on the horizon, one wonders if California even needs the petition to encourage California to becoming the first state in the country to legalize any kind of hallucinogens.

Marijuana, it turns out, is not just a gateway drug for greater drug abuse, but also a gateway legalization that will lead to the legalization of stronger and more dangerous drugs in our already deteriorating cultural environment.

Anti-Marijuana advocates already call “Weed” a hallucinogen, because like other hallucinogens, the various forms of Cannabis distorts how the mind perceives the world around it. The distortion is created by THC.  The mental consequences of Marijuana are severe, leading to poorer memory and reduced mental aptitude.  Animals given Marijuana by researchers have even suffered structural damage to the brain.

Those who support the legalization of drugs like Marijuana argue that alcohol is worse.  In reality, the opposite it true.  While alcohol consists of one substance, ethanol, Marijuana consists of more than 400 known chemicals, including the same cancer-causing substances found in tobacco.  Since pot smokers inhale deeply and hold the smoke as long as possible, the damage to the lungs is actually worse than that of tobacco smokers.

Alcohol processes through the human body in as little as an hour, and sometimes in a few hours.  THC stays in the body for weeks, and depending upon the user, sometimes for months.  THC damages the immune system, while alcohol does not.  THC also can cause sterility.

Studies in Australia in 2008 linked years of heavy Marijuana use to brain abnormalities, and other studies have shown a connection between continued Marijuana use and psychosis.

If the Democrats are willing to embrace a drug as dangerous as Marijuana, why would it be any surprise that they would chase after the legalization of Magic Mushrooms – and eventually other dangerous drugs like speed, cocaine, heroin or LSD?

The envelope is always being pushed by these people, and the orderly manner in which a society operates is not their concern.  The liberal left only wants power, and they will appeal to any voter they can to achieve that power, regardless of what is best for American Society.
