Nazis and the Global Warming Hoax

James Delingpole quotes Rupert Darwall, from his new book Green Tyranny:

The Nazis’ profound hostility to capitalism and their identification with nature-politics led them to advocate green policies half a century before any other political party. As an approximation, subtract Nazi race-hate, militarism and desire for world conquest, and Nazi ideology ends up looking not dissimilar to today’s environmental movement.

You might even say they invented today’s environmental movement, with their worship of nature, loathing of capitalism, embrace of inefficient renewable energy and organic farming, fretting about coal running out, et cetera.

The bridge between Nazis and modern envirotyrants helps explain why they keep pushing their agenda, even as it degenerates into absurdity. Despite the “consensus,” global warming theory is not supported by serious scientific evidence, and “green” energy is more expensive but not necessarily any better for the environment than fossil fuels. However, as Delingpole puts it,

That agenda is part religion – a kind of pagan nature worship expressed through opposition to Western industrial civilization and the embrace of retrograde technologies like wind power.

And it’s part leftist politics and economics: a way by which Europe can destroy and overtake the United States’ economic hegemony by neutralising one of its greatest competitive advantages – the abundance of fossil fuels which have now made it the world’s number one energy superpower.

Viewing it as a mixture of godless religion and leftist politics is the only way to make sense of radical environmentalism.
