With Rep. John Conyers (D) stepping down because of sexual harassment allegations made against him by former congressional staffers, and with Senator Al Franken getting caught with his hands in the cookie jar, so to speak, more and more elected officials openly addressing the ongoing problem of sexual harassment in the workplace.

The Shark Tank caught up with Senator Ted Cruz (R) shortly after he met with Vice President Mike Pence, and asked him about whether Sen. Al Franken should resign after several women accused him of groping them.

As you know, a 2006 photograph emerged of Franken groping a sleeping Leeann Tweeden aboard a U.S. Military transport plane.

While Cruz did not ask for Franken’s resignation, he did say that the allegations were “serious,” and needed to be addressed with “real consequences.”

Cruz also divulged that his wife Heidi has also been a victim of sexual harassment in the workplace.

Here is the transcript of the conversation with Senator Cruz:

We have all watched in horror as these waves of sexual harassment scandals, one after the other, after the other have piled up.

We’ve seen it in entertainment and Hollywood, where obviously, the problem is rampant. We’ve seen it in journalism, where people seen as icons of journalism revelations came out about their history that were horrifying, and we’ve seen it in politics.

Just today, John Conyers, the longest serving member of the U.S. House of Representatives announced he’s resigning. This is big, this is significant, and you are right, the allegations against Al Franken are very, very serious, and you are seeing an awful lot of back peddling and turning gymnastic flips to avoid addressing the consequences of those allegations.

Everyone deserves to be treated in the workplace with and in life, with respect. There is no place for sexual harassment in the work place.

I am blessed to be married to a strong professional woman, Heidi.

You know I will tell you that Heidi working finance, she has faced this in the past. Nothing ticks you off more as a husband than some of the jerks sometimes, that your wife, your mom, or your daughter, can face in the workplace, and we have to have a workplace, especially in Congress where everyone is treated with respect and is not subject to harassment.,

I am glad we are seeing sunshine on the deplorable conduct of far too many people, and I hope there will be real accountability.

We are seeing very serious allegations and their needs to be real consequences.
