Writer at The Week Denounces Constitution, Calls for Its Repeal

The Constitution is America’s spine. It has kept the USA comparatively stable, prosperous, and free for well over 2 centuries. So progressives want it repealed.

Not long ago, we would have fought Nazis and Imperial Japanese to the last man or risked nuclear Armageddon to defend the precious Constitution. Now we have liberal weenies like D.C.-based Ryan Cooper at The Week yapping that it ought to be thrown in the trash:

The American Constitution is an outdated, malfunctioning piece of junk — and it’s only getting worse.

Yet again, we are told that the Constitution is bad because when it was written, no one regarded Africans as equal to Europeans, and there was slavery. The Civil War and the amendment process resolved these issues many generations ago.

So let’s get to the real reason moonbats don’t like the Constitution: its very purpose is to limit government. The division of powers deliberately sets parts of the government against each other. According to Cooper, “there is no mechanism to break the deadlock.”

His solution:

Throw the entire Constitution in the garbage. One of the biggest problems with the Constitution as written is it makes changing anything nearly impossible. Other countries regularly ditch or overhaul their constitutions to deal with new problems…

That is one reason other countries are just other countries, and this is America.

Cooper isn’t a complete idiot. He does realize that “a constitutional collapse would be a tremendously destabilizing and dangerous event, and raise a significant chance of insurrection, civil war, or a military dictatorship.”

However, if America disintegrates after abandoning the Constitution, it will be all the Constitution’s fault.

[I]t will be because the ancient, janky mechanisms of the American Constitution simply failed.

Imagine living under a new constitution devised not by the wise and benevolent Founding Fathers, but by the malevolent fools who infest Washington now — the very sort of people the Constitution was ingeniously designed to protect us against. America would be over.
