Minnesota: Teen Muslima is indicted, told students to “join the jihad in fighting” and to “join Al Qaeda, Taliban, or Al Shabaab”

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Jihad recruitment and al-Qaeda support from a 19-year-old girl in Minnesota, and hardly any press coverage, of course. Nothing to see here, according to the enemedia. Just another Muslim trying to kill people, setting ablaze, among other things, a residential dormitory that also houses a day care center. Police said there were 33 children and eight adults in one the building. Nothing to see here, eh?

Tnuza Jamal Hassan wrote a letter to her roommates about “bringing back the Caliphate,” an Islamic state. The letter scared Hassan’s roommates, who turned it over to campus security. The St Catherine’s University student said she set the fires to avenge Muslims in Iraq or Afghanistan.

These indictments are a victory. On January 20 I wrote: “Tnuza Jamal Hassan set 8 fires and was only charged with a single case of arson. Why no terrorism charges?” Now she has been charged with “attempting to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization,” as well as “arson, and making a false statement.” She should have been charged with terrorism based solely on what she did at St. Catherine University, aside from whatever support she tried to provide to al-Qaeda, but this is good enough.

This is a war. Our enemies are fighting and plotting every day. Our authorities need to wake up to the magnitude of what is going on.

“Minneapolis Woman Charged With Terrorism Offenses, Arson, And Making False Statements,” Department of Justice, February 7, 2018:

United States Attorney Gregory G. Brooker today announced a three-count indictment charging TNUZA JAMAL HASSAN, 19, with attempting to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization, arson, and making a false statement. HASSAN will make her initial appearance before a United States Magistrate Judge at a later date.

According to the indictment, on September 19, 2017, HASSAN, a former student at St. Catherine University (SCU) in St. Paul, Minnesota, attempted to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization, namely, al-Qa’ida. On September 22, 2017, in an interview with FBI Agents, HASSAN was asked whether she authored and delivered a letter to two fellow students at SCU in March 2017. The letter sought to encourage fellow students to “join the jihad in fighting” and to “[j]oin Al Qaeda, Taliban, or Al Shabaab.” HASSAN knowingly made a false statement to FBI Agents when she stated (1) she did not write the letter, (2) she did not know who wrote the letter, and (3) did not know how the letter came to be delivered to her fellow students.

According to the indictment, on January 17, 2018, HASSAN started several fires on the campus of SCU, including in St. Mary Hall, which she maliciously damaged. The fires set by HASSAN caused the St. Paul Fire Department to respond to SCU.

HASSAN was charged in Ramsey County District Court with one count of first-degree arson and is currently in custody at the Ramsey County Jail.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew R. Winter is prosecuting the case.

This case is the result of an investigation conducted by the FBI-led Joint Terrorism Task Force, St. Paul Police Department, and arson investigators from the St. Paul Fire Department.

“Minnesota woman, 19, who allegedly told students to ‘join the jihad,’ is indicted,” by Nicole Darrah, Fox News, February 7, 2018:

A Minnesota woman whom prosecutors said set fires at a Minnesota university out of anger because of U.S. military actions overseas was charged with terrorism Wednesday after she allegedly tried to assist a terrorist organization last year.

Tnuza Jamal Hassan, 19, was charged in federal court for attempting to provide material support to Al Qaeda, lying to the FBI and arson, Fox 9 reported. She was initially arrested Jan. 17 after she set eight fires in seven buildings on the St. Catherine University campus in St. Paul.

The Minneapolis woman admitted to investigators that she started the fires, which prosecutors said were sparked when she was “reading about the US military destroying schools in Iraq or Afghanistan and she felt that she should do exactly the same thing,” a criminal complaint read.

Hassan admitted to investigators that she intended to “hurt people” when she lit fires on the St. Catherine University campus in St. Paul. (Google Earth)

“Hassan said she wanted the school to burn to the ground and that her intent was to hurt people,” the complaint stated. “Hassan said this was that same thing that happened in ‘Muslim land’ and nobody cares if they get hurt, so why not do this?”

No one was injured in the campus fires.

Details about Hassan’s terrorism charge are unclear, but a federal indictment said she attempted to provide support to al Qaeda in September by trying to provide “personnel.”

The former English major is also accused of lying about writing a letter to her roommates in March, asking them “to join the jihad in fights,” and to “[j]oin al-Qaeda, Taliban, or Al Shabaab,” according to Fox 9.

Hassan also “told the police and fire investigators ‘You guys are lucky that I don’t know how to build a bomb because I would have done that,’” the complaint said….
