Moonbat: “Sensible Gun Control” Won’t Do

Joining eagerly in the post-Parkland feeding frenzy, barking moonbat Lily Herman admits she won’t be satisfied with “sensible gun control”:

Democrats have slowly built up the rhetoric about wanting “sensible gun control” legislation. This sounds great, but there’s a problem when you dig a little deeper: No one can tell you what those three words mean and what policies they point to.

What they point to is policies that incrementally squeeze the life out of the Second Amendment, as has already been done to the Tenth. But that requires too much patience for Ms. Herman.

I for one am no longer beating around the bush with all of this word salad to make gun owners feel at ease; the right to bear arms is in our Constitution, sure, but the fact is you’re still in possession of an object that could kill me…

She is referring to guns — not knives, baseball bats, icepicks, screwdrivers, socket wrenches, frying pans, cinder blocks, hands, et cetera.

Enough with the incremental erosion. Let’s have a full-frontal assault. She seems to favor expanding the Democrat/media demonization of the NRA to gun-owning Americans in general. That provides plenty of targets, considering that up to 44% of U.S. households exercise the Second Amendment.

We can’t talk about stopping gun violence until we also address the people who have these guns and why they feel they need to own them. These include broader discussions about the ties between weapons and things like perceived masculinity and violence against women.

If all you have is a hammer, every problem is a nail. The only effective weapon that comes to hand for Ms. Herman is the #MeToo movement, thanks to which almost any man can have his career instantly destroyed by a woman on even the flimsiest allegation. Why not apply this mallet to the Constitution?

Women who carry equalizers to defend themselves against rapists will be surprised to learn that they have been linked to toxic masculinity and violence against women.

From there Ms. Herman attacks hunters as being somehow abnormal and then goes completely off the rails into incoherent blather:

Our nation has a lot of problems. But none of them—and especially not gun violence, mass shootings, or genocide—magically appeared overnight; they’ve been sitting there, untouched and unexamined, for centuries. Unfortunately, they’re a gigantic part of our nation’s fabric, and we have to reckon with that.

What the…? I thought we were talking about gun violence, not genocide. In this country, we don’t have to worry about genocide, such as people alive today have witnessed on a massive scale in China, Russia, and Germany — at least, not until after we let the government take away our guns.

She concludes:

But of all the things to reckon with, I’d say this is one of the most critical. After all, our lives—and yes, that includes your life—are on the line.

Speaking of lives on the line, like many opponents of the right of self-defense Lily Herman is a ferocious advocate of abortion. Maybe she shares the belief that abortion prevents mass shootings.
