Shameless Demagogues Seize on Florida Shootings as Pretext to Render the Law-Abiding Defenseless

Let’s try to view yesterday’s tragedy through the liberal lens. Nikolas Cruz didn’t kill 17 people; our constitutional right to bear arms killed 17 people. Republicans support this constitutional right. Therefore, Republicans killed 17 people. If you don’t like murder, vote them out:

Former Rep. David Jolly (R-Fla.) on Wednesday argued American voters must flip the House of Representatives to a Democratic majority if they want Congress to address gun control in the wake of a Florida high school shooting that left at least 17 people dead and others injured.

According to Jolly, Republicans won’t disarm law-abiding citizens, but Democrats will “work for incremental wins.” Notch by notch, turning the totalitarian ratchet with these “wins” would leave us totally helpless.

No wonder the former lobbyist Jolly had a hard time getting reelected as a Republican. Ironically, he was unseated by former governor Charlie Crist, who was a RINO like Jolly before switching parties.

Naturally Dems were atop the Florida dead faster than flies:

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) said on the Senate floor that mass shootings are “a consequence of our inaction.”

“This happens nowhere else other than the United States of America — this epidemic of mass slaughter.”

Tell that to Anders Breivik.

Unless clinically mentally defective, not even a progressive could believe that we would be safer if only the government and criminals had access to firearms. Of the two, government is by far the more dangerous, as anyone familiar with the 20th century history of China, Russia, or Germany could tell you.

This is why the Constitution is so precious. It was designed not only to preserve our right of self-defense against maniacs like Nikolas Cruz, but to preserve liberty from the likes of Jolly and Murphy.
