New York City Reaches Settlement with Muslims Police Surveilled Following 9/11

On September 11, 2001, as I watched the twin towers engulfed in flame and smoke from Chelsea, then later stood in front of a Midtown office building watching a parade of survivors shuffle toward Grand Central coated in a white dust consisting in part of their former coworkers, I never would have imagined that I would one day read this:

New York City has reached a settlement giving Muslims a say in police training and policies, and the city agreed to pay mosques and businesses who said they were illegally targeted for surveillance because of their religion, Muslim groups said Thursday.

The groups said they’ve been targeted for years following the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attack…

The organizations sued, saying they were being singled out purely because of their religion.

That is the equivalent of mobsters complaining that they are singled out for surveillance because of their profession.

Any society that does not keep a close eye on Muslims has a death wish. New Yorkers prefer political correctness to life itself.

The city will pay $47,500 to businesses and mosques who suffered financially from the surveillance, as well as $25,000 to the individual plaintiffs. The city will also pay $950,000 in fees to the lawyers for the Muslim plaintiffs.

Osama bin Laden is laughing in his grave.

The next major Muslim attack on New York may involve a nuclear weapon. Compounding the grief will be the knowledge that we brought it on ourselves out of sheer moonbattery.
