Outlook
An intense coastal cyclone east of New Jersey today will wrap moisture, cold air, and windy conditions across the southern Appalachians through tonight. Drier conditions and weak surface high pressure will then return through Thursday before another low-pressure system approaches from the Deep South or Gulf Coast region late in the week. A quick shot of moisture with this system will arrive on Friday, followed by drying high pressure for much of next weekend.

Weather Hazards
Hazardous weather is not expected today. Rain is expected on Saturday and Sunday and snow showers are possible on Monday.
Wind chill values on the Highlands Plateua will drop into the teens overnight Sunday into early Monday morning.
NWS Hazardous Weather Outlook
A strong low pressure system will pass to our north and move a robust cold front through the area on Sunday. In the front`s wake, colder air will return late Sunday into Monday setting up favorable conditions for accumulating northwest flow snow and slippery road conditions across the higher terrain. In addition, gusty winds are also likely from Sunday morning through early Tuesday.
**Note** A Tropical Weather Outlook section has been added to the daily weather briefing for the Atlantic Hurricane Season, and since those tend to run long when there is activity, that section has been added between the daily forecasts for the four regions of the county and the almanac section so people can get to their daily forecasts with minimal interference.
