In This House We Believe...

Putting this sign in your front yard is not brave, it’s not edgy, it’s not punching up and it’s not speaking truth to power. This sign projects smug sanctimony, announcing you define yourself in opposition to cartoonish stereotypes.  It’s not changing the world, and its not improving one black life.  Like other forms of self-pleasure, it may make you feel better, but does nothing for anyone or anything outside yourself.

I posted a parody last week honoring the Martha’s Vinyard progressives who collaborated with the Infotainment Media Complex to scream at Republicans.  They did a photo op with the migrants dropped on their doorstep and then promptly deported them to Boston.

Meanwhile, progressive mayors of progressive self-described “sanctuary cities” whine and moan about actually providing sanctuary a tiny sliver of migrants Texas border towns have been putting up with since Biden blatantly pandered to Jorge Ramos during a Democrat Party debate in 2019 by stating “We’re a nation that says, ‘If you want to flee and you’re fleeing oppression, you should come.’”

Let’s go down the list of beliefs on that sign…

* Other than a tiny racist fringe, who says that black lives do not matter?

Before we move on, Democrats have run all the big cities for decades, and poor black people are still trapped in crummy schools and locked out of well-funded rich schools by the tyranny of school district boundaries, which could be wiped out with one vote.  Black live matter? Really? 

* Love is Love? Who can disagree with that fuzzy, cuddly, meaningless feel-good tautology? 

* Who are all those people believing “science isn’t real?” The yard sign houses are full of people denying basic biological facts regarding male, female, and human life in the womb.  They also smugly chirp unscientific cotton candy phrases like “The Science is Right!“

Related Question before we move on: People were skeptical of the covid vaccine, given how it was rushed and did not go through the normal 5-10 years of trials and studies for a new vaccine. Scientists in government bureaus and university hospitals developed that rigorous muli-year testing regime because they demanded years of data before they could say a new vaccine was safe and effective.  Does that make those scientists “anti-science?”

* We can probably all agree no human is illegal.  But unless you’re a crazy reality-denier, we all agree humans do illegal things, some are criminal, and some fall into the internationally-recognized legal status of being in a nation illegally.  This is actually a criticism of a technically-sloppy shorthand phrase. Bravo.  You got us there!

* Of course Women’s Rights are Human Rights. So are Nigerians’ rights, billionaires’ rights, murderers’ rights, children’s rights, MAGA Republicans rights…

* News isn’t Fake?  Now they are on shaky ground if they are stating that as a categorical truth. No ideology or belief is immune from fake news.

* Kindness is Everything.  Really? Kindness is a snake? The Devil? Bat guano? OK, I get what they’re saying, and in the sense they mean it, I agree.  So do good people of all cultures and ideologies.
