Herman Cain: Politics is a Dirty, Dirty Game

Politicians are like Self-licking Ice Cream Cones

Our two poodles eat, sleep, bark, pee, doo doo, play, and just provide total happiness, which is not like the grief some people and politicians give all of us.  Politicians are like self-licking ice cream cones.  In political jargon, a self-licking ice cream cone is a self-perpetuating system that has no purpose other than to sustain itself.  These creepy politicians create laws, which create problems of unintended consequences.  Therefore, they create more laws to throw money at the unintended problems they had created.  Then, that increases the national debt, but they take credit for solving those problems that they had created in the first place.  Unfortunately, their solutions to solve those problems also create more unintended problems.  Hence, the process repeats itself ad infinitum.  Consequently, the national debt keeps increasing with no end in sight.  Therefore, can you see how these politicians are like self-licking ice cream cones?

Now, here is the core of this story.  Why must we continue to deal with our errant Congressmen and other such elected officials like children or, more accurately, like criminals?  We find that there are a certain number of these congressional representatives and senators sneaking earmarks and other such pork-barrel projects back into current legislation.  What a bunch of fools!  Here is what we must do with these criminals in Congress:

• Eliminate all earmarks and pork-barrel projects before any legislation is voted upon
• Fine guilty congressmen 10% of the value of their sneaky earmarks
• Publish their names and photos in major news media as violators of this law (sort of like publicizing draft dodgers in the 1940s and ‘50s)
• Kick the guilty congressmen and senators out of office by disallowing them to run for re-election

If that does not stop these suit-and-tie-wearing, white-collar criminals in Congress, then nothing will stop them.  However, this should eliminate and strongly discourage any elected official from attempting to continue to spend, spend, and spend on wasteful projects.  So let it be written; so let it be done.
