Sandy Hook Shooting – Look At the Numbers Folks: Something Isn’t Right

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

by Scott Creighton

Where do you start with something like this?

According to a recent study put out by Mother Jones (A Guide to Mass Shootings in America) and contrary to some of the outlandish numbers you may have heard today, the fact is there have only been around 61 mass shooting events in the United States over the past 30 years. That’s an average of 2 per year.

On the way over here I heard one of the authors of that study on NPR and he mentioned the fact that there had been 7 this year already including this atrocity at the Sandy Hook elementary school.

Five have occurred since July 20th, the Aurora Massacre. Five.

I have yet to delve into this “official story” too deeply but I notice that the law enforcement officers initially told the news that it was Adam’s brother Ryan who was the perp until he ended up Tweeting that it wasn’t him and he was on his way home. It’s very odd circumstances again, but I don’t want to go into that right now.

“Law enforcement officials initially told NBC News that the gunman was Lanza’s brother, Ryan, and they had sent out a bulletin to local and federal law enforcement agencies to that effect.” NBC News

(So again, contrary to the conventional wisdom out there right now, it wasn’t “the media” that got it wrong to start with, it was law enforcement.)

What I will say is this: we know for a fact that there are some really odd facts surrounding the Clackamas mass casualty event, the Sikh Temple mass casualty event and the Aurora Massacre to be sure.

But even those facts aside, take a look at the locations of all of these 5 latest attacks; theater, church, work place, mall and school. It’s almost as if someone wants to ensure that every aspect of the so-called “normal” lives of American citizens are touched in some way by these events.

Also notice this: according to the Mother Jones study, the 7 mass shooting events we have had this year are exactly 5 more than the average over the last 30 years.

And the last 5 may in fact be rather suspicious as they lead up to what is becoming an all out demand to take guns away from U.S. citizens.

But while people like Michael Moore and Mayor Bloomberg are teaming up to scream for gun control, remember this:

Right now there are a reported 300 million firearms in private hands in this country split between roughly 100 million people (which is VERY odd when you consider a 1997 National Institute of Justice study based on 1994 polling information showed there were 200 million firearms in possession of 100 million Americans nearly 20 years ago! Isn’t that odd?)

Over the past 30 years we average 2 mass shooting events per year by 100 million gun owners (since 1994 at least) and not all of them were legally registered owners.

What does that tell you? That tells you that the odds of someone taking their legally registered gun on a killing spree is about the same as you winning the powerball sweepstakes. That’s what it tells you.

It also tells you that these latest 5 incidents which just happened to occur at a very interesting time in our country cannot be looked at as if they happened in a vacuum.
