Take Their Money and their Guns: Incompetency Classification for Returning Vets Raises Serious Questions

by Scott Creighton

What would you say if I told you that the government is looking to seize the money and the guns of various veterans after they returned from contributing to the Global Free Market Wars? What if I told you that the government is looking to give those veteran’s benefits to a fiduciary instead of the veteran himself, who will then spend those benefits in whatever way that fiduciary deems appropriate? On top of all of that, the vet himself is then barred from buying or owning any kind of firearm or ammunition after killing in the name of the for-profit central banking system.

Yeah, if you are going to give a vet’s money to JP Morgan, you had better take his guns.

Is this a back-door asset confiscation for the banks or a way to keep returning vets from seeking the help they need? Is it simply a case of someone making a big deal over a few mentally challenged vets who are being classified in this manner or is this more widespread than we expect?

An extremely rare classification for addicted or otherwise troubled vets or the shape of things to come?

It’s a classification of “incompetency” by the Department of Veteran’s Affairs and it appears that much is being made of this letter because apparently many vets are reporting to have received letters like the one I link to below.

Here is a downloadable PDF of a letter sent by K. Kalama of the Portland Oregon Department of Veteran’s Affairs to an unnamed (redacted) vet saying exactly that.

Notice at the top of Page 2:

A determination of incompetency will prohibit you from purchasing, possessing, receiving, or transporting a firearm or ammunition. If you knowingly violate any of these prohibitions you may be fined imprisoned or both” Department of Veteran’s Affairs

It’s pretty straight forward. Once they grab your bank accounts and cash, they disarm you at the same time, probably sending a sheriff over to make sure you don’t have a gun.

“If the VA decides you are incompetent to handle your benefit payments, VA may appoint a fiduciary (payee) to manage your VA payments. All your VA payments will be made directly to the fiduciary.” Department of Veteran’s Affairs

Hell of a way to treat a vet, huh?

And who do you think that fiduciary will be? Will it be someone you live with or a family member or buddy from the corp? Hell no. It will be a branch of JP Morgan Chase or Goldman Sachs who will charge a fee of course, taken right off the top of the vet’s payment. Gotta cover the overhead after all.

Over at RedFlag News, Michael Connelly writes that this is becoming a common occurrence among vets. Now that could mean that the big banks see a profit to be made in this or it could mean that more and more of our returning vets suffer from serious mental illnesses. Either way, it ain’t good news.

But more importantly and more chillingly, Connelly accurately writes about the arbitrary nature of such a determination and the lack of due process of law which is in direct violation of our vet’s constitutional rights (5th).

Whether or not this is already a wide-spread practice or becoming so, a violation of one person’s rights, if gone unnoticed by society, is a violation of ALL OF OUR RIGHTS. We’re in this together in case you forgot.

“That makes is sound like something right from a documentary on a tyrannical dictatorship somewhere in the world. Yet, as I write this I have a copy of such a letter right in front of me. It is being sent by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to hundreds, perhaps thousands, of America’s heroes. In my capacity as Executive Director of the United States Justice Foundation (USJF) I have been contacted by some of these veterans and the stories I am getting are appalling.

The letter provides no specifics on the reasons for the proposed finding of incompetency; just that is based on a determination by someone in the VA. In every state in the United States no one can be declared incompetent to administer their own affairs without due process of law and that usually requires a judicial hearing with evidence being offered to prove to a judge that the person is indeed incompetent. This is a requirement of the Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that states that no person shall “… be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law…”.” Mitch Connelly, RedFlag News

This letter and this issue are getting quite a bit of attention as of late. The questions as to the constitutionality of the process and the draconian implications are riveting.

However, I have yet to see any writer on this subject supply estimates as too how many returning soldiers have gotten letters like this or been classified as “incompetent” by the government that sent them off to secure profits for the banksters, Monsanto and the oil barons.

Again, it is possible that this classification is only being used on those vets who are suffering from addiction or living in squalor due to other serious mental challenges that keep them homeless or otherwise destitute. I imagine there has to be a program like this in such extremely rare cases.

But if this program is being widely used to take the payments and the rights away from large portions of our returning vets without due process and for completely arbitrary reasons… if this is somehow being used as a warning to keep vets from talking openly with their healthcare professionals at the VA, then something has to be done to expose it for what it is.

Currently they are pushing for laws that will force healthcare professionals to report patients who suffer from some sort of mental illness as a means by which they can be prevented from owning firearms.

Contrary to popular opinion, this will do nothing to prevent deaths in this country as truly mentally ill people will have no problem violating laws to obtain weapons or use other means to cause whatever harm they are committed to causing.

What it will do is keep people who need mental healthcare from talking openly about it with their doctors and what that does in real time is save insurance companies a lot of money. And since everyone is going to be mandated to have a policy with a for-profit company in the near future, that savings will amount to a vast sum of cash for those companies.

They can also use this potential new legislation to deny various people their right to own a firearm by simply claiming that an anonymous healthcare professional (who’s identity has to be protected for their safety, of course) had deemed them mentally insufficient to own a gun. Two birds with one stone so to speak.

This determination of incompetence by the VA reeks of the same potentially corruptible usage.

These days when everything we say on the internet or on a phone or Tweet can be tracked and recorded by the NSA and their partners at Google, it is extremely easy for the powers that be to locate and track people, including vets, who don’t have the “right frame of mind” shall we say. And thus it could be extremely beneficial to take control of their assets and prevent them from owning guns.

So yes, this has serious implications that should not be ignored no matter how you look at it.

UPDATE: A new AP article sheds a bit of light on a growing problem with returning vets: the fact that they see themselves as monsters because of what they have been forced to do overseas in the name of American Corptocracy.

A veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, former U.S. Marine Capt. Timothy Kudo thinks of himself as a killer – and he carries the guilt every day.

I can’t forgive myself,” he says. “And the people who can forgive me are dead.”

With American troops at war for more than a decade, there’s been an unprecedented number of studies into war zone psychology and an evolving understanding of post-traumatic stress disorder. Clinicians suspect some troops are suffering from what they call “moral injuries” – wounds from having done something, or failed to stop something, that violates their moral code.AP

When you expect your soldiers to behave in an immoral fashion in order to achieve a goal based not on bringing freedom and democracy to a land, but occupying it in order to subjugate their people and seize their resources, then you can expect some “moral injuries” in those same soldiers when they return. Perhaps this is a way of keeping those soldiers suffering in silence.
