Neoliberals Back Henrique Capriles Radonski Again in Venezuela’s Presidential Election – Why Have They Elected to Punt on First Down?

Question: Have the neoliberal zealots in D.C. and New York decided to punt on First Down in their efforts to remake Venezuela in their globalist model?

This is an interesting development. The neoliberal media is abuzz about Henrique Capriles Radonski throwing his hat in the ring in the upcoming April 14th special election to replace President Chavez in Venezuela. He will be running against Chavez’ handpicked interim replacement, former Vice President Nicolas Maduro.

Capriles is an interesting choice for the globalists for many reasons. He just lost an election to Chavez in Oct. of 2012 and it wasn’t even close. The people of Venezuela came to understand Capriles for what he was, Washington’s man in their country.

Capriles is a Business Firster of the first order. His parents were super rich, bringing Kraft Food into Venezuela in the late ’50s in the early days of neoliberalism. His mother owned a cinema chain and they were both heavily into the media business. In short, Capriles represents the old oligarchical system that was installed in Venezuela that Hugo Chavez and the Bolivarian Revolution routed when he won his first election.

Unlike here in the United States, Zionism is well understood in Venezuela, and disliked by many with good reason. It’s not anti-Semitism, it’s not about dislike people of Jewish faith, it’s about disliking Zionist policy because it is well understood by the masses to be brutal and imperial in nature.

Right or wrong, Capriles is associated with Zionist beliefs by the vast majority of the population. His father, Henrique Capriles García, was a Catholic of Sephardi Jewish ancestry while his mother was born in Venezuela to Ashkenazi Jewish immigrants from Russia and Poland. Reading the papers from Tel Aviv during the last election, it’s not hard to summarize that Capriles is their candidate. Of course he is. He’s Washington’s Business First candidate and he was the National Endowment for Democracy candidate, so it’s clear who Israeli neolibs would back.

Capriles “was vilified in a campaign in Venezuela’s state-run media, which insinuated he was, among other things, a homosexual and a Zionist agent.” Wall Street Journal

Whether or not he’s a pure Zionist is beside the point. The fact is, the people THINK of him as a Zionist and all the media reports from the last election are still fresh in the minds of the people. No time to remake his image between now and April 14th.

As bad as that is, it’s not the clincher which will kill his campaign before it even gets off the ground.

Capriles was Mayor of Baruta during the 2002 Venezuelan coup d’état attempt which was orchestrated by the CIA and the State Department. You will recall a bunch of Business Firsters rushed to the presidential palace and quickly disbanded the entire state government so they could make their Chamber of Commerce president a full on dictator.

In Baruta, a mob of right-wing fascist Venezuelans rushed the Cuban Embassy and attacked it trying to prevent the staff from escaping. Violence ensued and Capriles did nothing to stop it. Not only that, but Chavez’ Interior Minister was in Baruta at the time and he was arrested by Capriles’ cops. Some say he was heavily involved in the coup itself and there are leaked State Department memos that seem to support that claim. There’s a really good article by Jean-Guy Allard which illuminates much of these connections and crimes committed by Capriles against his own country. He was tried for his rolls in all of this and eventually acquitted but then the ruling was challenged.

Again, it’s not about whether or not Capriles was guilty of these treasonous acts, which I am sure there is more than enough reason to believe he is. It’s about whether or not the majority of the people BELIEVE he is. It is an election after all, not a trial.

So here they are, the AEI and the New Dem Washington Consensus Party, i.e. the Business Firster Fascists, touting the candidacy of Henrique Capriles Radonski in Venezuela to win the seat formerly held by the now martyred El Comadante.

This guy is seen as the personification of the oligarchical system they strove to overcome. He is linked to the fascist coup they marched in the millions to put down. He is viewed by many to be a servant of both Washington AND Tel Aviv. And he lost a presidential campaign not 6 months ago when it wasn’t even close then. Now he’s up against the hand picked replacement of the now Sainted Chavez?

It’s going to be a slaughter. It won’t even be as close as it was last time.

So why back this guy?

Sure, he’s just the kind of oligarch they want in power these days. He’s young and business savvy. He’s hooked into the financial elites of the world and he’s of an age where they can put him in power and keep him for a long while as long as they set up another of their effective death squad systems. He says all the right things like he loves Jesus and he looks like the stereotypical NASCAR driver (can’t have fat old drivers anymore. Doesn’t make the sponsors happy you know). For them, he’s perfect.

But he will never win an election and maybe that’s the point.

The powers that run this country understand they’re not going to be able to influence this election or hack it (like they do here) regardless of how much money they sink into Henrique’s farce of a campaign. It’s too soon after the death of Chavez and many (MANY) Venezuelans believe Hugo was poisoned to start with. So no matter who they back, they aren’t going to unseat his personal choice to replace him, Nicolas Maduro.

So it seems they have elected to punt on first down and play the game on the defensive side of the ball which probably implies they are going to put their eggs in the destabilization basket and that bodes very ill tidings for the people of Venezuela.

Will they let the elections take place first and then try to claim they were rigged like they did to no avail in Russia and Iran before it?

Will they instead start the Contras-like destabilization campaign before the election targeting polling stations and campaign headquarters?

Will they put their efforts into buying Maduro instead knowing that a Hugo Chavez doesn’t often come around twice in one lifetime in one country?

Only time will tell I suppose but this much is clear: they know the candidate they are backing is not going to win and these people don’t just give up and let the people decide. We’ve been proven that time and time again.
