Vote For Hillary Clinton 2016 : Many Reasons Why It Makes Sense

With Election 2016 fast approaching, Watt B Wong thinks it is time voters start to consider their options. This summary is written mainly for Americans of Chinese origin, and of course, as usual, all Chinese Americans will be voting Democrat in this election, so we don’t have any option as such. Let’s just hope Hilary is our man!

So, to get into the mood for voting and cheering on Hillary, Watt B Wong asked the Internet for its opinion, and here is what it had to say:

Stephen Charbonneau makes a plain and straightforward case for HRC as POTUS:

Hillary Clinton is hyper-competent, highly intelligent, and well connected. She has all the skills necessary to be a great President, and as a bonus, her husband was one of the two best Presidents of the past 50 years.  Her political views, which are slightly left of center, are in the right place to protect and continue the economic growth of the Obama years and to oversee the dramatic transition to self-sustenance and sovereign stability that is occurring in the Middle East.

Hillary Clinton is also, if I may be so controversial (but not crazy), the best hope for the survival of true democracy in America and bulwark against further corporate oligarchy.  
My fellow leftists may be taken aback by this notion, as the Clintons are notorious centrists and more corporate-friendly than most Democrats (especially Elizabeth Warren), but allow me to explain.

These are the facts:
[一] The 5-4 Supreme Court decision on Citizens United overturned (already weak) campaign finance laws and opened the floodgates for unlimited anonymous corruption of public officials.  This should concern everyone regardless of political affiliation.
[二] This decision nominally benefitted both parties by giving greater power to both corporations and unions.  But in this era, unions have become significantly weaker than corporations.  Corporate money has driven both parties to the right, but will disproportionately benefit Republicans.
[三] When conservatives gain control of government at the local, state, and federal level, their primary interests are to protect conservatism, not free and fair democracy. Republicans have shown few qualms about rewriting the rules to consolidate their own power via excessive gerrymandering, voting restrictions and red tape, and other anti-democratic measures.
[四] The Koch Brothers plan to spend $889 million on the 2016 elections, effectively doubling the conservatives’ budget. This is not benevolent altruism, it is a self-interested outright attempt to buy power and subvert democracy.  Money equals votes.
[五] If there is any hope at overturning the Citizens United decision and ending the corruption crisis, it lies in replacing one or more conservative SCOTUS judges with liberals or moderates.
[六] Justices Anthony Kennedy and Antonin Scalia are both 81 years old in 2017. Within the next 8 years, one or both will probably retire or die.
[七] If a Republican wins in 2016, Justices Kennedy and Scalia will retire and be replaced by more conservatives.  Worse yet, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer will be replaced by conservatives as well.  Clarence Thomas, the next oldest, is ten years younger than Scalia.  It will be decades before the court can be realigned.  By then, Republicans and Democrats will all be complete crony corporatists, and it will be too late.
[八] Not only will Hillary Clinton make an excellent President, but she is also the Democrat with the best chance of winning the general elections in 2016 AND 2020.  And in doing so, and nominating a sensible liberal judge to the bench, Hillary Clinton will save and restore the integrity of American democracy.

[十五] Hillary knows child care, equal pay, and paid leave are fundamental economic issues—not just “women’s issues.”
[十六] Our democracy should work for everyone—not just the wealthy and well-connected.
[十七] Our next president could make multiple appointments to the Supreme Court.
[十八] She’ll fight to overturn Citizens United to curb the outsized influence of big money in politics.

[二十四] Hillary’s New College Compact would mean students would never have to borrow to pay for tuition to attend a four-year public college in their state—and the millions of Americans who have student debt can refinance.
[二十五] Because taxpayers shouldn’t pay for millionaires’ and billionaires’ kids to go to college.
[二十六] Experts say Hillary’s plan to keep Wall Street accountable is the toughest of all Democratic candidates.
[二十七] As first lady, she helped get health care coverage for 8 million American children.
[二十八] Our veterans should have access to timely and high quality health care.
[二十九] She’s the only Democrat with hedge-fund billionaires running ads against her—because they know her agenda is to stop their agenda.

[三十二] Suspected terrorists, domestic abusers, other violent criminals, and the severely mentally ill shouldn’t be able to purchase a gun.
[三十三] Because every 4-year-old in America should be able to go to a high-quality preschool in the next 10 years.
[三十四] We need to invest in infrastructure and rebuild or expand our roads, bridges, rail, broadband, public transit, and water and energy infrastructure.

[六十九] She’s earned the wrath of the gun lobby, Iran, pharmaceutical companies, and special interests—and that should tell you something about who she’s fighting for.
[七十] She has a plan to invest in American manufacturing and revitalize communities that have lost manufacturing jobs.

[七十二] She believes we should let families buy into the Affordable Care Act health care exchanges regardless of immigration status.
[七十三] Prison is not a substitute for treatment for drug addiction and mental health issues—Hillary knows that and will do something about it.
[七十四] We can create a new national standard of no fewer than 20 days of early in-person voting in every state.
[七十五] Because those at the top are doing just fine. It’s your family who needs a fighter in the White House.

[七十九] High-quality K–12 education needs to be a priority for every child in America.
[八十] As secretary of state, Hillary lobbied for the first-ever U.N. Human Rights Council resolution on LGBT human rights.
[八十一] In the words of the Advocate, Hillary has an “awesome LGBT agenda” to protect and expand LGBT rights.
[八十二] She’s not afraid to stand up to discriminatory attempts to roll back voting rights in places like Alabama.
[八十三] Hillary knows Muslim Americans are helping our communities succeed and are our first, last, and best line of defense against radical jihadism.
[八十四] She will provide funding to make sure body cameras are available to every police department in America to increase accountability on both sides of the lens.
[八十五] She’ll expand on-campus child care and scholarships to help student parents balance going to school with raising a child.
[八十六] She’ll fight to end racial profiling in America.
[八十七] She’ll hold irresponsible gun dealers and manufacturers fully accountable if they endanger Americans—and that includes repealing the gun industry’s unique immunity protection.
[八十八] She worked to expand the Family Medical Leave Act, allowing families of those wounded in service to their country to take leave in order to care for their loved ones.
[八十九] Family members who care for ailing parents and grandparents could use some tax relief.
[九十] Because when a company does well, the employees who helped produce those profits deserve a share in them—not just CEOs.
[九十一] She believes we should use alternatives to incarceration for low-level, nonviolent marijuana users, and she will reschedule marijuana from a Schedule I to a Schedule II substance.
[九十二] She’s not afraid to to call out Republicans for blocking efforts to keep guns from suspected terrorists.
[九十三] She helped lead the charge to raise the minimum wage as a senator.
[九十四] Building international coalitions advances our values, interests, and makes the world safer. Hillary is the only candidate who’s actually done it.
[九十五] She worked across the aisle to expand health care access for members of the National Guard and reservists—making sure those who served and their families had access to health care when they returned home.
[九十六] There are cities across the country that are already leading on climate change—so she’ll launch a Clean Energy Challenge that will form new partnerships with states, cities, and rural communities.
[九十七] She’ll “ban the box” so people who have a past conviction can get a fair shot at employment.
[九十八] When Hillary was secretary of state, the U.S. extended antiretroviral therapy—which helps HIV/AIDS patients live longer, healthier lives—to 78 countries.
[九十九] Because women’s rights are human rights.
[一百] Because even when people didn’t want her to go to China and stand up for human rights at the 1995 U.N. Conference on Women in Beijing, she did it anyway.
