Another GOP Insider to Vote and Raise Money for “Progressive” Hillary Clinton

REPUBLICANS FOR HILLARY!

What do you do when you actually lose the Democratic Party primary but steal it anyway and then are looking at the general election knowing full well you didn’t really win the nomination of your party? You court the Republican vote. That’s what you do.

“Calling Donald Trump an “authoritarian character” and a threat to democracy, Meg Whitman, a prominent Republican fundraiser and chief executive of Hewlett Packard Enterprise, endorsed Democrat Hillary Clinton’s White House bid late Tuesday…

In an interview with the New York Times, which first reported the endorsement, Whitman said it was time “to put country first before party” and that she would give a “substantial” contribution to Clinton’s campaign.

“Trump’s unsteady hand would endanger our prosperity and national security. His authoritarian character could threaten much more,” Whitman wrote on Facebook.” Reuters

Electing Trump would “endanger” the prosperity of the billionaire class of America. That says it all doesn’t it?

“She (Whitman) revealed that Mrs. Clinton, the Democratic nominee, had reached out to her in a phone call about a month ago, one of the first indications that Mrs. Clinton is aggressively courting Republican leaders. ..

While Democrats openly appealed at their convention last week to Republicans uneasy with Mr. Trump, Mrs. Clinton and her top supporters have been making a similar cross-party pitch in private since before the Democratic nomination fight even came to its conclusion.” New York Times

During last night’s chat with Tom Keily, I spoke a little about how this current campaign being waged  by the unDemocratic Party was starting to look like Bush/Cheney 2004. Tom and I spoke about the definitively Republican tone of the campaign in it’s current form and why that was.

And here we are.

Whitman has investments in charter schools in San Jose and was briefly on the board of directors for Goldman Sachs.

The good new is:

• Whitman spent 144 million of her own money trying to win the governorship of California back in 2010 and was defeated.
• Whitman was a lead financial advisor/backer to the Mitt Romney campaign in 2008 which also failed.
• Whitman then jumped on the McCain bandwagon and financially supported his efforts, which, once again, failed.
• In 2012 Meg then backed Romney again and we all know how that turned out.
• In the early part of the 2016 Republican primary season, Meg Whitman served as finance co-chair of Chris Christie’s bid for the nomination. I think he ended up getting something like 3% of the vote totals.

Needless too say, Meg Whitman isn’t in the habit of picking winners.

And now “SHE’S WITH HER.”

It makes sense that back in 2011 Meg was attending Bush’s neoliberal “public private partnership” meeting while Hillary Clinton was holding little meetings in Baghdad telling business leaders it was “time to look at Iraq as a business opportunity“. These are two women cut from the same cloth. They belong together.

Perhaps this neoliberal republican will finally pick a winner in the fake “progressive” that is Hillary Clinton. Or perhaps her track record will remain unblemished. Only time will tell. But it should be getting clearer and clearer for those Sanders backers out there who they should vote for if they want to keep a clear conscience…
