The Libertarian Party strongly supports U.S. House bill H.R. 399, which was filed today by Rep Tom Massie (R–KY), along with seven co-sponsors, to abolish the federal Department of Education.

Pray this unconstitutional Federal Department of Education is abolished and control of the schools return to state and local governments where they will once again be answerable to the parents in each state.
There was a time in this country before the Federal Government controlled the schools when children actually got an education at public schools.
Today’s school children for the most part are schooled but not educated.
When states, local counties, and parents control public schools parents are better able to make their voices heard as to the education of their children in their local areas.
