More than 500 people marched on a warm night, Feb. 20, in downtown Milwaukee to mark the one-month anniversary of Trump’s inauguration. The action was organized by the Milwaukee Coalition Against Trump (MCAT), a grassroots effort that has united much of the city’s progressive movement into a united fightback against the Trump agenda.

The rally and march focused on what the Trump agenda has looked like over the past 30 days, but also on the victories that the people’s movements have landed against his plans. Among these victories was Trump being forced to cancel his visit to a local Harley Davidson plant, after the threat of mass protests organized by MCAT rattled the executives at Harley.

The group started at Zeidler Union Square, then marched to the federal courthouse, the location of U.S. Senator Ron Johnson’s office. There, a number of speakers condemned Johnson for his actions, as he has voted in favor of every one of Trump’s cabinet nominees, including Betsy DeVos and General “Mad Dog” Mattis.

The march was high-energy and demonstrated that there has been little loss of momentum over the course of this one month. The coalition hopes to continue this momentum through to May Day and beyond, until all of Trump’s attacks have been beaten back.
