The Evangelical Christian Right’s Love Affair With Donald Trump
Evangelical Christians make up about 20% of the United States population. 70% overall self-identify as “Christian.” Current US President Donald Trump won 81% of the white Evangelical vote back in the November 2016 Presidential Election.
That’s 4 out of every 5.
With that core base, you would expect the president to thank them for their support by throwing them a bone. Or a few of them. White American Evangelical Christians overwhelmingly (82%) believe Israel to be the exclusive homeland of the Jewish people.
They also overwhelmingly (76%) support a ban on Muslims entering the United States. Finally, 57% of Evangelical Christians support America suspending the Constitution (the same people who tend to worship it and the Founders) in favour of creating a Christian theocracy. You know, like Saudi Arabia has a Muslim theocracy. Or (gasp!) Iran.
Why are all of these statistics important? Enter Donald J. Trump, appealing to that base of voters who have felt largely neglected by both major political parties, in spite of the incessant pandering to them, particularly by Republicans.
So, to sum all of this up, Evangelical Christians have practically run the joint for decades and they still aren’t happy.
What Trump has done is appeal to the persecutory tendencies of this key faction of Republican-leaning, ultra-right conservatives and their prejudices for his own gain.
The man who once self-identified as a Democrat now leads a key base in the Republican Party, the “party of family values.”
This all while facing roughly 20 accusations of sexual harassment or assault and being married thrice, according to The Independent. Not to mention the boasts of having his own “personal Vietnam” by avoiding STDs during the time of the Vietnam War, stating:
Vaginas are my personal landmines.

The man who makes Borat seem like a prude and the last man who would ever be associated with family values is the supposed, adopted spokesman for them.
America has been going through a period of culture wars recently.
This has been marked by the emergence of the first black president, Barack Obama. Now Trump has weighed in even more significantly than Obama could have ever dreamed of, by appealing to a persecutory base that inexplicably swarmed to him in droves.
These people have long felt rejected by a rapidly changing society.
That from one which heavily favoured and pandered to their every whim to one based more on social equality. They haven’t taken kindly to that loss in power and control over societal “norms.” They continually speak of freedom and liberty, yet in practice their interest is tepid at best. This is particularly with respect to non-Evangelicals’ attitudes and behaviour which are diametrically opposed to theirs.
George Carlin was the king of political incorrectness. Pining for slavery and a time when people white Anglo-Saxon Protestants frowned upon had no rights is not political incorrectness. It is not-so-subtle bigotry.
Evangelical Christians are a base that are unlikely to abandon Trump regardless of his actions. When Trump said that his supporters would stand by him even if he shot someone in the middle of Times Square, he was likely correct. Civil unrest could be brewing as a result of Trump’s presidency, as a small minority can do a lot of damage in America.

In a America rife with homelessness, while markets skyrocket with printed money and tax breaks for the rich, our standard of living, our life expectancy and America’s collective mental health plummet and no one notices.
In short, THE problem with the world today is Judaism! Make no mistake; there is no . . good Jew, bad Jew, or whatever Jew.
It is not a subset of Judaism, not Jewish Bolsheviks, not Zionism, not Frankfurters, not Cabalists, not Freemasons, not Neocons, not the Kosher Nostra, not the Anglo Zionist Empire not the Deep State and it is not the Khazarian Mafia.
