Recently, I wrote an article on “Obama is Anti-Boy Scouts of America.” A reader who refuses to identify himself other than with the handle “Anonymous” wrote the following:
I am shocked to hear this, however, I find it distasteful that you used your final paragraph to promote a personal political agenda. Please don’t inject political views into an article about the Scouts.
My response follows:
Anonymous,
What some people (including you) do not understand is that I am a cyber-commentator. I advertise myself as a “strict constructionist” constitutional conservative. I am not a traditional journalist. Instead, I am a commentator. Therefore, I always inject my personal political views in all of my pieces. If you or anyone else does not like my materials, then, just do not read them. I do have an agenda. My agenda is to promote constitutional conservatism. If you are a strict constitutional conservative, then you probably would like what I write.
I am currently preparing a doctoral dissertation. In that research and document, I do remain as objective and impartial as much as possible. That, apparently, is what scholarly research and publications are all about. Hence, if you want to read boring materials, read master’s theses and doctoral dissertations.
I am, basically, a non-fiction writer. I have written and published 17 non-fiction books and have an 18thone in the works. However, because of the terrible situation in which Barack Hussein Obama has put our country, I have taken an exorbitant amount of time away from my doctoral research and my book writing to write, yes, politically slanted articles for general public consumption.
Hence, my recommendation to Anonymous and those of his ilk is this: If you do not like conservative political commentary, please stop reading my articles. I write only for those who appreciate my writing style, topics, and political persuasion. Is that fair enough for you? I do not force you or anyone else to read my articles. Just as I respect your freedom of expression in all of your comments (both positive and negative) that you have written about my articles, all I ask is that you display mutual respect and let me write how I am moved upon to write these articles. Fair enough?
Respectfully,
Bob Uda
