I grew up in the America where the politicians actually did something, other than working for the big multi-national Corporations……
I grew up in the America where the Democrats and Republicans were actually both decent political parties, not the America where it was standard practice to obstruct the other party at the expense of the people…..
I grew up in the America where there was civility, and common sense, not the Police State where the cops can do about anything they want and get away with it..
I grew up in the America where all citizens had respect for the Office of President, if not the President himself…
I long for the days when the rich didn’t get a free ride on the backs of the working man, and everyone paid their taxes without crying how unfair it was to have to pay..
I grew up in the America where the Constitution meant what it said, and there was no un-patriotic ‘Patriot Act’, which did more to destroy the freedoms in America than any other legislation ever passed….
I grew up jn the America where , when men went to war, they were fighting for something other than Bush’s oil, and Haliburton’s profit margin….
What has happened to this great Country? Is there any hope?I thunk there is, but only if, we the people, do our civic duty, and put aside the rhetoric, and vote the entire batch of legislators in both houses out of office:
DEMAND A NEW TAX CODE, where everyone pays the same 15% Flat Tax.
DEMAND CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM, so the politicians cannot be paid for before even getting into office.
DEMAND THE REPEAL OF THE ‘PATRIOT ACT’!!!!
DEMAND CORPORATIONS TO STOP EXPORTING JOBS, by force of law, and imposition of tariff’s if necessary.
STOP THE FAILED WAR ON DRUGS, which is a war on the lower and middle classes, and which has caused more suffering in the world than ANY ILLEGAL DRUG ever has.
Lastly, try moving into the center, and try the old proven, live and let live philosophy, and stop worrying what your neighbor does that you don’t understand or approve of, perhaps then, the America I grew up in will have a fighting chance…..
