Presidents Day: An insult to George Washington and to American History!

Today I received a letter from the Florida Times-Union in beautiful Jacksonville, Florida asking me what Presidents Day meant to me and what president, or presidents, I felt strongly about.  I use to write a blog for the paper and they published nearly 500 of them for me before I began blowing the whistle on Barack Hussein Obama.  It seems the truth irritated their Liberal editorial staff and they cut me off.  First they stopped publishing statistics that showed me the most read blogger on their site, then they objected to my critical tone, and finally locked me out of the site.  Political correctness on parade.

Anyway I still subscribe to the paper as I love the city of Jacksonville and especially Ponte Vedra Beach, where my children grew up, matriculating through the entire school system.  I am included in a group of people they ask opinions of and thus here is my opinion on President’s Day. 

On President’s day!

 President’s day to me is merely a banking holiday as it has no real significance. The most important man in the history of our country is simply cobbled in among all the presidents of our existence.  The man who, in most other countries, would have his own day, maybe his own month, endless ceremonies concerning the events of his life.  Every child growing up would know he was “The Father of Our Country!”  

 George Washington was the real deal!  He was a fearless warrior, beginning the in the French and Indian War, where he command troops, by standing at the front with bullets flying all around him.  One of these bullets went through his hat at Fort Necessity.  The men he fought with were amazed that he was never hit by and enemy shot.  

 In the Revolutionary War, he once saw his troops retreating from the front; immediately charge forward on his horse, and turned the retreat, by riding to the front, and leading his men back into battle.  He was impervious to the danger to his person as commander in chief.  The Revolutionary War was won by Washington!  Only a man with his temperament, patience to take losses, the strategy to win against overwhelming odds, and the leadership that men gravitated to, and trusted unquestionably, could have beaten the most powerful army and navy on earth.

 He came out of retirement to be president of the Constitutional Convention.  He was not a figurehead, but led the convention, amongst much hate and discontent between the Northern States opposing the Southern States.  He was the one person that could bring the disparate parties together, and get the agreement to a Constitution, which turned out to be the greatest governing document in the history of the world.   No one at the Constitutional Convention could imagine this document being produced without George Washington’s leadership.

 As president, George Washington demanded teamwork and the first Cabinet to work together for the good of the country.  He did not believe in political parties, warned against them, and thought them divisive to the country in terms of getting things done.  He fired Thomas Jefferson, a good friend of his, as Secretary of State, for being divisive and plotting political activities behind his back, while working for him.  He oversaw the first treaties of the new country, the first means of paying for the government, the creation of the Navy and Marine Corps, and the first standing army. 

 After his first term was completed he wanted to walk away into retirement.  He had lost tremendous value and income from his farms in Virginia while fighting the Revolutionary War, the Constitutional Convention and as President.  His properties were in disarray and losing money and Washington was land-rich and cash-poor. 

 The Founding Fathers realized that four years was not enough of George Washington’s leadership to set the new country on a firm standing and remove threats of anarchy or dissolution because of the differences between north and south.  They convinced him to stay on another term which he did at great sacrifice.  George Washington sacrificed more than any other man in the history of the United States in order to do what was right for his country.  No man ever gave more save that of his life in battle. 

 Given the times, George Washington could have stayed on as president, for as long as he wanted or lived, as he was that important to the country.  He set the precedent to walk away after two terms, which lasted until the first Socialist President was elected in 1933, in the form of Franklin D. Roosevelt.  He did not die a rich man, as his properties, suffering from his absence during service with the British Army, the Continental Army and as President, were left rundown and unproductive.  In essence he gave all to the cause. 

 Today there is no day, no month, not even a celebration of George Washington’s life in America.  American children, middle school students, high school students or college students, today have no idea of how important Washington was to their country.  However, a womanizing, plagiarizer who had a Doctorate Degree conferred on him he didn’t earn, and representing 12.5% of our population, has his own day and celebrations nationwide.  

Somewhere in this there is a tragedy, and considerable criminality, for a country to forget its roots. 

GEORGE WASHINGTON WAS THE GREATEST LIVING AMERICAN, IS STILL THE GREATEST AMERICAN TO EVER LIVE, AND FOR IT, BECAUSE OF POLITICAL CORRECTNESS, HAS BEEN FORGOTTEN BY MOST AMERICANS AND FADED INTO OBLIVION.
