Dbzdutch’s Inclusive Cou Coo Clothing Line Is Inspired by Her Experiences

@Dbzdutch doesn’t believe that finding stylish, affordable, and quality clothes for women with curves should be as difficult as it currently seems to be. After growing up and failing to find the outfits that fit her shape and lifestyle that didn’t also break the bank, Dabz (as @dbzdutch is known) and her friend Aaliyah decided to take it upon themselves  to change this.

Coucoo launched in January 2022 and their first collection has been a roaring success. Dabz has confirmed on both her and Coucoo’s social media that a second collection is on the way. Coucoo strives to be as inclusive as possible and each part of their collection, from basics, to dresses, to co-ords, have been designed with all shapes and sizes in mind.

We spoke to Dabz about what inspired her, along with her friend and collaborator Aaliyah, to start Coucoo.

What made you come up with Coucoo?

“We created Coucoo because I felt like the UK was really lacking in catering for curvy girls. We design our clothes with curves in mind.”

Obviously, life is tough for almost all of us right now. The cost of living is rising, and the vast majority of “affordable” clothes are either lacking in quality or come from fast fashion outlets whose sustainability is often questionable. Why did value become such a priority for you?

“The price point was a big factor for me. I went to university and would work part-time on the weekends, I remember wanting pieces that were way too expensive for me. So I made sure Coucoo has high-quality beautiful pieces that young girls can afford and feel good in! The basics line, for example, was produced almost like shape-wear. With material that can create a flawless silhouette. I couldn’t find anything like this in stores.”

It comes across very clearly that every piece designed by Coucoo has inclusivity in mind. How important is it to you that every woman feels like there is something for them at Coucoo?

“I had the hope of allowing every woman to feel sexy and in touch with their feminine energy. Whenever I would have an event or dinner, I’d look on the high street and could never find something unique and cool but affordable at the same time so I made sure Coucoo was exactly that. Unique, limited but affordable pieces for everyone!”
