We will be growing our family by one toward the end of this month, which should make things extremely busy in the Searl household in the next few months (or years). Because of this, Jill and I decided to go away for three nights to Jackson, NH as we felt we wouldn’t be able to get away for a long time coming. Grammy was kind enough to take the munchkin (Lylah) while we were away so that we could have real R&R. We stayed at our favorite getaway, The Snowflake Inn, and the innkeeper, Sue, was super kind and upgraded our room to the Gazebo Suite since we were staying there midweek, prior to the busy holiday. We did some shopping at the outlets, ate at some of our favorite local establishments, but for the most part, just took in the views and enjoyed the fresh, mountain air. Below are some pics with captions from the week!
Ducks Head (formally Iron Bluff) peaking up over the trees from The Snowflake Inn parking area. (I captured some pretty blue skies too!)
The Backcountry Bakery is one of our favorite locations to stop to get an iced coffee to start the day. They’re very nice in there; they’re located right across the street from The Snowflake Inn and they have some killer standup signs outside!
We always stop at least once to get some sandwiches at the J-Town Deli. It’s a great little general store with a small eat-in area. I think they make all sorts of diner type food, but we always get cold cut type sandwiches.
One day, we were also able to stop at the Moat Mountain Smokehouse and Brewery Co. We got to eat on the porch and our view from Mount Washington was pretty great. It was cloudy, but he ceiling was very high, so the peak with rotting snow was still visible.
The Wildcat River from the Jackson Covered Bridge on one of our morning walks around. The walks were one of my favorite parts of my trip.
Ducks Head (formally Iron Bluff) from our walk, near the Wentworth Golf Course.
Black Mountain from Route 16 (on our walk) peaking over the covered bridge on the golf course.
The Wormely Horse Trough Memorial
My dream house!!! It better be back up for sale when I’m ready to retire!!!
When we got home, we took the munchkin miniature golfing and she did really, really well. (She’s so cute!)
Last weekend, it was her birthday party, and she wanted a Frozen themed party. Let me tell you, as high in demand that stuff is right now; it was not easy getting everything.
