Atlantic Coast Pipeline listening sessions

Dominion, Duke Energy and Piedmont Natural Gas want to build the Atlantic Coast Pipeline —; a 42-inch pipeline to carry fracked gas 600 miles through West Virginia, Virginia and into North Carolina. This project poses significant risks to property rights, forests, our water supply, and the health and safety of residents along it’s route.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has the power to approve or reject the Atlantic Coast Pipeline. FERC has drafted a 700-plus+ page document to review the potential environmental impacts of the pipeline, and has opened a 90 day comment period for the public to express their concerns about the project. To provide comment to FERC, you can write a letter, send an email, or attend one of the 9 listening sessions sessions FERC will provide along the pipeline corridor in NC, VA, and WV in February and March.

At each of the FERC listening sessions, the doors will open at 5:00 p.m.*, folks can sign up to provide comment till 8:00 p.m., and comments will be heard until 10:00 p.m. It is important that we show FERC, Dominion, Duke Energy and Piedmont Natural Gas —, and the public — our opposition to this pipeline.

*The Suffolk, Va.A Listening Session starts at 5:30 p.m. It is the only listening session that starts at a different time than 5 p.m.
