(Before It's News)

At first glance this picture may appear cute or sweet but it is actually very sad. This whitetail deer is pictured with one of Mississippi’s game wardens who responded to a call on a deer destroying someone’s yard. This deer was undoubtedly raised as someone’s pet and was given an ear tag. The deer had ventured off from its “home” and has taken up residence at someone’s home where it has almost completely eaten all of their flower bed. This deer does not have the skills to survive in the wild so he is doing the only thing he knows which is go to humans for help. Deer imprinted on humans will not be accepted into the wild population. Deer imprinted on humans is also very dangerous. During breeding season these animals can become very aggressive and without an intact fear of humans can cause serious harm!! We will be picking up this deer tomorrow after with hopes he can be rewilded.

PLEASE do not attempt to raise a wildlife animal yourself CALL YOUR LOCAL WILDLIFE REHABILITATION ORGANIZATION!!!

A mother, stepmother, grandmother and great grandmother who was taught deer hunting by my second husband, Bob, in my mid-forties. I’m still hunting today and loving it!
