Mutilated Cow Found at Missouri Farm

Police in Kansas City, Missouri, are investigating after a farmer reported that one of his cows had been found dead and mutilated. [map] The case has baffled the police, neighbors, and the veterinarian who examined the butchered bovine.

(Dare I say it?) All involved are utterly baffled. (Sorry.)

Kansas City Missouri Police, officers responded to a call on Thursday morning — January 5.

The cow’s owner, Casey Hamilton, told police that the cow had been ill, and had been moved to another pasture away from the rest of his herd. According to the police report, the cow was alive and recovering when it was last checked on Wednesday night.

The vet told officers that it was a precise cut and whoever did it “knew what they were doing.” The vagina and udder were removed, and there was no blood.

There were no tire tracks, and no footprints to be found. The gate was still locked.

A rancher named Gordon Phillip, a friend of Hamilton’s, commented to the local media: “It’s somewhat amazing because the lack of evidence.”

Mr. Phillip said that he had discovered one of his own cows had been mutilated, some 30 years ago. When he asked his vet for an explanation, Phillip says that he just looked towards the sky.
