Mutilated Dogs in Colorado, Investigators Aren't Sure The Culprit Is Human

Investigators in Colorado want to find the person responsible for a disturbing case of animal cruelty … assuming the culprit is human

Two dogs were found mutilated outside of Berthoud, Colorado [map] last week. The first discovery came after an anonymous call on Wednesday. Then on Saturday, a second gruesome discovery made along County Road 16.

The dogs were found in a similarly horrific state: Skinned and beheaded, and the tail removed. They were so badly mutilated that veterinarians can’t even tell what breed they were.

Investigators are puzzled about a number of things in these cases, mostly due to lack of evidence and the bizarre nature of the case. 

While they are assuming this was done by a human, they aren’t sure. According to reports, investigators are performing necropsies on the two dogs “to determine if they were killed by human hands.”
