January 9, 2011, Monday. Well, today I will be doing a documentary with Shannon ‘Ms. Macabre’ McCabe and Carol Gillis. This will be my 7th documentary and this will be Shannon’s 6th documentary. Carol Gillis, this will be her very first documentary! I took the day off and picked up Shannon and Carol from Shannon’s home and headed for Gold Rush Country. Destination: The National Hotel in Jackson. The story that the producer picked up on was the story you see below:

I do not want to disclose the name of the TV Show, so I will scramble the name. The name of the show is: Sothg Dtunevaser Rudnlbe. Perhaps it’s 2 names or 3 names, try to unscramble the name. Good luck. The host of the show is the very popular (scrambled name) Akagasnbz. The show is produced by the (Scrambled Name) Lveatr Channel. Anyway on this gorgeous beautiful day, we arrive to the National Hotel in Jackson. They are refurbishing the hotel. Shannon looks at me and says..”this ain’t right.” We contact the producer and discover in horror that they are on the other side of Gold Rush Country – 5 counties away at the National Hotel in Nevada City! How in the heck could they get the National Hotels mixed up? But, some how they did. By the time we would arrive at Nevada City, they would be done filming, so the producer talking to Shannon and tells us to cancel, we will never make it on time. Plus, the story is for the National Hotel in Jackson, not the National Hotel in Nevada City…sigh. Here we are all dressed up and have no where to go. Shannon says: “let’s take our sour lemons and make lemon meringue pie”…or something to that effect.
It was a real disappointment, but we made the best of it. So, we stopped at the haunted Poor Reds and ordered Brown Cows. Poor Reds was built in 1857 and they used to cater to miners, settlers, etc. The pony express used to go through this area. Once a man died in the alley way next to Poor Reds and some of the patrons feel they are being watched by this dead fellow. Mike Speegle the bartender tells me that his father was once the bartender at this establishment for 27 years, then he took over. Employees have seen shadowy fleeting figures at this restaurant / bar. Poor Reds is famous for its Gold Cadillacs and baby back ribs. Carol and Shannon order the pork dip and I ordered a cheese burger and fries. Super delicious!! I love this place and definitely want to go back.
Here is some trivia about Poor Reds:
Home of the Famous Gold Cadillac. Built in 1857 as an apothecary, survived the fire of 1923. The name was changed to ‘Poor Reds’ in the early 1950s by Harry P ‘Red’ Sadler. Most bottles consumed in 1 night was 87. At 12 shots per bottle equals 1044 Gold Cadillacs served in 1 night. In 1999 Galliano proclaimed Poor Reds the largest consumer in the world, responsible for 3% of the American market. Poor Reds has sold as many as 52 tons of ribs in one year.

After I downed my cheese burger, we were on the move again, to discover a few other haunting locations. Our next stop was the lovely quaint The Albert Shafsky House Bed & Breakfast. I recently received an email about this bed and breakfast and the email reads in part….
THE FEET TICKLING GHOST
“when we stayed at this bed and breakfast, I had the blankets pulled off me. When I pulled the blankets over me, I felt a gentle hand tickle my feet. I wasn’t scared, but it was a very unusual experience for me. I believe any ghosts in this bed and breakfast are friendly and playful.”
Shannon, Carol and I did not obtain any EVPs this day and our photos are still being fully analyzed, but some of those photos will be shared in this article.
LITTLE MARY
Our next stop was the Henry S. Morey House, built in 1859. This establishment is located at 801 Morey Drive, Placerville, CA 95667. www.placervillebedandbreakfast.com
Guests at this bed and breakfast receive the most paranormal activity at 3am. Most of the activity is in the Inverness Room. There is a log book for guests to write their experiences in regard to this room. Guests are constantly obtaining orb pictures in this establishment. The resident ghost is ‘Little Mary’. Only one guest has ever seen the full body apparition of Mary, she is small in stature, she wears 1800s type of dress. She frequents the St. Andrews Room. Lucas the beagle that lives at this bed and breakfast is not bothered by Mary at all, a very friendly happy dog.
