Asus Warranty Does Not Protect Your Computer During Alien Invasions

Asus computers are not protected by its warranty in the event of an invasion by aliens from outer space, it has been revealed. So if ET invades Earth, your family’s safety and personal health are in jeopardy. And your computer warranty could be at risk as well.

And wouldn’t you know it? I am typing this out on an Asus, dang it.

The humorous find has been making its way around the tech news gossip chain, includingGizmodo, Pingdom, and muy Computer.

Under the heading “Exclusions from your ASUS Warranty Extension Program including the WEP On-Site NBD Limited Hardware Warranty Service,” the lawyers at Asus spell out all the things that the company excludes from warranty coverage.

For example, your Asus isn’t covered if:

“There is damage caused by natural disaster, intentional or unintentional misuse, acts of war, space invasions, abuse, neglect, improper maintenance, or use under abnormal conditions.”

Note: I’ve seen a few posts accidentally reporting that Acer‘s warranty doesn’t cover invasions from space; but this is an error. Acer, HP, Gateway, and most other computers apparently don’t list “alien invasion,” “invasion from space,” “hostile UFOs,” “intergalactic war,” “Ragnarok,” or anything similar as voiding warranty.

Someone at the company must have caught wind of the story, because the “space invasions” bit isn’t listed on the webpage any longer. However, a screenshot posted at Gizmodo clearly shows that the wording was included in the warranty. In fact, “space invasions” was listed before “abuse, neglect, improper maintenance” — suggesting that it had greater importance, or is far more likely.

Too bad the humorous line is no longer included. Wait, does that mean alien invasion is covered by the warranty?
