West of Tucson is the Barry Goldwater Gunnary Range. It’s where the Air Force and Marines and National Guard go to fly the fun stuff and explode the big stuff; out in the middle of the desert, away from everybody but some very foolhardy illegal immigrants.
It’s an odd place. One summer (hot) day I was driving through it on U.S. 85. Windows up, A/C on, and tunes playing. It’s a big range and a long drive, and mid way I stopped to go behind some rocks for a nature-break. As soon as I got out of the car I realized that there were low-level jet aircraft all around me. I looked for them. Not one to be seen. I looked for five minutes and never saw one, but they were all over the place. Finally got back in my car and figured ‘wonder what that technology cost me?’
My guess? Somebody was testing something they don’t want to talk about on the Barry Goldwater range.
No idea of course, but with all the so called DUMBS being set up around America
, more than likely they had to blast a very solid object to clear the Path
