Okay to clarify exactly what is your perspective on the discovery of Atlantis? Has it been discovered already in modern times? It seems like all the time when something is discovered its Atlantis. Thoughts?

— Physical remains for the lost capital of Atlantis have not yet been discovered, because, until recently, the technical means to find them had not been developed. Ruins of the city Plato described are not sitting on the bottom of the sea, but are buried underneath it. A process known as “deposition” has been steadily raining down masses of decomposing organic matter that becomes silt and mud. Given the thirty-two centuries since the final Atlantean catastrophe, perhaps many meters of material cover any physical evidence. Moreover, its precise location has long been debated. So far, claims for discovering Atlantis in the Bahamas or other places are unconvincing. With the advent of improved sonar, however, and its application in a more credible target area, chances for a future find are improved.

75,000 years ago you speak of a genesis of human civilization marked by a volcanic explosion that reduced humanity to a few thousand people. Would you tell us about this?

— The Indonesian volcano of Mount Toba exploded with greater power than any other known eruption in geologic history. Until then, mankind was caught on a kind of evolutionary merry-go-round, with one sub-species after another, coming and going, and no real advancement. Toba suddenly reduced Homo sapiens’ global population from about two million to perhaps three thousand or at most twenty thousand individuals. They were the strongest, smartest and most adaptive to severe environmental challengers. From this so-called “genetic bottleneck,” a wholly superior human type emerged to take up the cause of higher development that led directly to our resilient immunity systems and civilizing impetus.

Would you go into the Aquatic ape theory and the aquatic phases of evolution that took place in water for humanity evolution wise?

— Simply stated, our pre-human ancestors were driven from their original habitat in the trees by widespread deforestation onto the savanna, where they first scavenged, then hunted. Later, water encroached upon dry land, forcing adaptation to an increasingly aquatic environment, as reflected in our subcutaneous fat, webbing between fingers and toes, diver’s reflex, tears, bodily hair patterns, etc., etc. When the waters receded, we re-focused on a more terrestrial environment. This interplay of water and land imperatives took place during several phases over the course of our development, each time stimulating and influencing human evolution.
