UFO Sightings Search on YouTube Hijacked!

In the last few years, I’ve always been able to use YouTube to do a simple date ordered search of UFO sightings for the current year and get back a decent percentage of real sighting reports evenly mixed with the normal garbage data and rehashed information typical of the internet. Not a very precise way to monitor UFO activity, but it did yield enough useful data to make it worthwhile.

However, as of late, someone with an account name beginning with, “TheBestUFOVideos,” has been posting the same batch of videos over and over again with the above account name plus a 2-digit number added and incremented for each batch. The accounts have nearly 60 different iterations as I type this, all with the same beginning name. Every video has the same description, too, which is just a standard list of search terms one would use when trying to search or monitor UFO reports in date-ordered fashion.

Because of this behavior, any date-ordered seach on YouTube with the terms, “UFO 2013,” for instance, will yeild lots of videos from this user(s), but hardly any videos from other users will show up. Monitoring for real reports is almost impossible now under these conditions.

But, who is doing this and why? You would think that someone creating nearly 60 accounts with the same beginning name would throw up some kind of red flag or something for the YouTube censors. However, the behavior persists and YouTube doesn’t seem to care. Heck, for all I know it could be YouTube itself doing this.

If someone didn’t want current UFO reports to be noticed or searchable on YouTube, this is one method that seems to be effective in achieving that goal.
