UFO sighting leaves West Coast man ‘bug eyed’

A West Coast man is ‘freaked out’ after coming face to face last night with what he claims was a UFO, parked on the road outside the entrance to Shantytown.
Matthew Robert, a mechanic from Rutherglen, insists he is not alone and that three other cars were also confronted by the night-time visitor on Rutherglen Road, south of Greymouth, about 8.45pm.
When the car-shaped object suddenly lifted into the sky in a blinding light, he and the other drivers left in such a hurry they left skid marks on the road.
“I was changing a CD as I was driving and when I looked up I saw what looked like a car without its lights on, stopped in the middle of the road outside Shantytown. I slammed on my brakes and my eyes were still trying to focus, when suddenly the thing just lit up and shot into the sky,” Mr Robert said.
“When I came to my senses I noticed that there were three other cars that had stopped on the other side of the road as well. It’s weird that no one else has come forward because those people obviously would have seen the same thing I did.”
He claims that immediately following the incident he lost all cellphone reception, his vision was blurry and his eyes watery for about an hour afterwards.

My late father was a senior engineering officer in the RNZAF, being in charge of the UFO landing site at the Moreland Incident in the Waiau Valley, Blenheim in 1958. It appears that two landings took place than night and not one as at first supposed. But you’ll need to consult with the CIA, because they threw everyone, including my father, and an SIS Officer who is still a bit miffed about it, off the site later in the morning… but I digress…
The details provided in the latest sighting at Shantytown, on the West Coast of the South Island, are certainly credible to me. The West Coast has a long history of the unexplained. It’s isolation and heavy bush cover, make it ideal for such activities.
It’s unhelpful ridicule, that drives witnesses underground, who would otherwise have confirmed the event. But of course, they probably knew they’d be attacked and belittled, as soon as they opened their mouths.
My late father’s revelation about the Moreland Incident, only surfaced when my late brother was doing eactly the same thing as the commentors…. telling me the whole UFO thing was little green men from Mars, and that no one could possibly be taken in by it?
