What Is Magic and Witchcraft? Are They Real or Myth?

Magic involves the use of our extra-sensory perception, magical invocations and human willpower. We can train our willpower to change our environment and create supernatural effects.

Is Witchcraft considered to be the dark-side of magic?  If you answer yes, know that there are many good witches, who do not practice the dark arts.  If magic, witchcraft (good and evil) do not and never did exist, why did U.K Parliament pass the 1542, 1562 and 1604 Witchcraft laws?

The powerful force of sorcery is able to confuse, overthrow, consume and change all inferior things. Sorcery also enables someone to temporary prevent abilities in another person or animal.

Although I know people in today’s society will find this off-putting, we cannot neglect the fact that, bodily fluids were used in magic, in many cultures and traditions.

These bodily fluids include blood, semen and urine. In many forms of magic, bodily fluids are seen to act as bonding agents.

What is a Grimoire?

Grimoires (magical books) and techniques have been used to communicate with spiritual creatures in the astral plane, involving angels, demons, spirits, jinn and elementals.

The name “Grimoire” is derived from the word “Grammar.”

What is Grammar? Grammar is a description of a set of symbols and how to combine these to create well-formed sentences.

A Grimoire is a description of a set of magickal symbols and how to combine these in order to perform the desired effect. These magickal symbols are contained in a text book of magic. More in depth, these grimoires include instructions on how to create magical objects (talismans, amulets), how to perform spells, divination, and the method of invoking angels, spirits and demons. It should be noted that not all books on magic are considered to be grimoires.

Although the term grimoire is originally European, grimoires can actually be found across the world, ranging from Jamaica to Sumatra (western Indonesia). The first grimoires were not discovered in Europe, but in the Ancient Near East.

Did Ancient Egyptians Practice Magic?

It is well understood by those in the occult, that the Egyptians were famous in the ancient world for magic. Science, religion and magic were one and the same. The people of ancient Egypt recognised the power of magic and unlike today’s ignorant and materialistic world, they embraced its divine abilities and practical use – from the pharaohs/rulers protecting their country with magic rituals to pregnant women wearing amulets for protection.

There is much mystery surrounding the land of Egypt. In school, we are taught the basic principles of how the ancient Egyptians supposedly lived using primitive means, and how they carried gigantic blocks weighing many tons to build pyramids, burial customs, etc. Are these true? Nothing could be further from the truth. Also, I cannot remember ever watching or hearing an Egyptologist talk about the Egyptians’ magical practices, or the origins of Egypt stemming from Atlantis.

Aleister Crowley:

Aleister Crowley (reportedly 1875-1947) was an English occultist, mystic, ceremonial magician, poet, mountaineer and founder of the religious philosophy – Thelema. Crowley was also known as Frater Perdurabo and The Great Beast 666. Born in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, he was raised into a wealthy upper-class family, by parents who were members of the Strict Bretheren, a fundamentalist Christian sect. As a young man, he became a member of the esoteric Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn.

John Dee:

John Dee (1527-1608 or 1609) was another fascinating individual. John Dee was a Welsh mathematician, astronomer, astrologer, occultist, navigator, imperialist and it is public knowledge that he was a consultant to Queen Elizabeth I. So if you ever thought that the Royal families of the World don’t care about magic, you are very far from the truth. Dee devoted much of his life to the study of divination, alchemy and Hermetic philosophy.

Robert Boyle:

Robert Boyle (1627-1691) is a famous 17th century natural philosopher, physicist, chemist and inventor. He is largely regarded today as the first modern chemist and one of the founders of modern chemistry.

We should have all heard of him as we are taught Boyle’s Law in school. This law describes the inversely proportional relationship between the pressure and volume of a gas, if the temperature is kept constant within a closed system.

So why have I mentioned Robert Boyle in this chapter which is supposed to be a biography of famous magicians?

Well, ladies and gentlemen, something which you are purposely not taught in school is his knowledge and interest in magic!
