Before I talk about my private home investigations in Rocklin and Lincoln, let me tell you about an intriguing email I received. Read below.

I got an email from Dennis Ray in Wyoming. Here is what the email said: “Hi Paul, I have been reading your ghosthunting stories. If you ever get out here to Cheyenne, you have to check out this one area where there are some railroad tracks. I was out there with 4 of my buddies around 3am and we heard the sound of a train rolling down the tracks towards us. The train was black and billowing smoke. It looked like a train from the 1800s. We could see people in the windows and they were all dressed in clothing from the 1800s. We stood there in shock, not believing our eyes. None of the people on the train seemed aware of us, but there was a dark figure that seemed to be looking out the window and looking directly at us. My friends and I, now call this the Ghost Train of Cheyenne. We really haven’t told to many people, because everyone will think we are nuts or been drinking. What do you think that was? Are you ever coming out to Cheyenne? We watched the train as it rolled past us and it seemed to vaporize.” Note: Changed the context to this email to make it more readable. Paul.

My answer to Dennis Ray: Something similar to what you are talking about happened to Anne Moberly and Eleanor Jourdain in 1901, at the Gardens of Versailles. They went into a time slip and glimpsed life before the French Revolution. They even encountered Marie Antoinette sketching on the park lawn. While in this time slip, no one was aware of their presence, which would indicate to me that if we were able to go back into time, we would not be able to alter history, because we would be mere phantoms in a past time period. There was one character that seemed to be aware of their presence. A sinister black figure that seemed to follow them around the garden. It was short, wearing a black rimmed hat and had an evil face and long nose. If time slips do occur, it seems that there are entities that regulate time slips and observe the people that are experiencing the time slip. You had a dark figure watching you, while Anne & Eleanor had a dark figure shadowing them throughout their experience. My questions to you Dennis, were you and your friends drinking or using any type of narcotics? Have you ever experienced any other paranormal activity or is this your first time? How were you and your friends feeling during this episode of seeing the ghost train? Has anyone else ever talked about seeing this ghost train from your city?

Dennis, hearing this story, it sounded like you experienced a residual haunting, but when you mentioned the dark figure, then I thought of a possible time slip. You may call me personally and we can discuss further. Thank you. PS: As for going to Cheyenne, I hadn’t planned a trip to Cheyenne, but I wouldn’t mind going. You have a plane ticket (smile)?

On this day July 6, 2008, Sunday, I have two private residences to check out. One in Rocklin and one in Lincoln. Renee Christine Martine (HPI Ghosthunter-in-training) met with me at Taco Del Mar in Rocklin for lunch, her treat. Thanks Renee! Renee had been doing some solo paranormal investigating on her own and showed me a series of photographs that she has taken at the home in Rocklin. I am not an expert photo analyst and cannot make the sound determination if the photos are paranormal or due to slow shutter speed, light refraction, etc. The photos show light movement throughout the house and one photo shows light movement towards the face of the occupant. The photographs are unusual and they need to be analyzed by experts in the field. Since I worked in Military Intelligence, I have a few friends that were once Image Interpreters for the Photographic Interpretation Center in Korea. I will suggest that the photos be sent to me and I will send the photos to one of my friends who now works with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.

A little info on Renee. Her grandmother was a well-known black witch that dabbled in black magic and her grandfather was a known warlock. Renee has always been attracted to the paranormal. She is now learning the art of ghosthunting. While investigating the home in Rocklin, she said an entity rubbed her face. She played back her recorder and she picked up an EVP that said “stop it ****”. It sounded like a woman’s high pitch whispery voice. The recording occurred at 3:30am. The occupants of the home said that most of the activity happens in the family room, kitchen and bedroom. They believe that some of the entities are little kids, because at times the entities will tug on their shirts. They have heard a male entity walking around and whispering. Their faces have been touched, their hair pulled. They have witnessed paper moving across a desk and even saw a pillow moving across the bed away from the occupant. The home is very new, so if anything the land is haunted. Renee discovered through some historical documents that nearby was the Rocklin Granite Quarry Sites. It was the site of Brigham & Hayes Pacific Granite Company. The quarry operation was also worked on by A.D. Hathaway & Degan & Brady. The S.D. Smith Quarry provided the granite for the state capitol. The Chinese also were involved in Rocklin in building the Central Pacific Railroad. So, there is a lot of history and if all these companies were working in and around Rocklin, they must have lived around the rock quarries. I would imagine moving granite stones lead to accidents and untimely deaths. It would seem reasonable that the land could be haunted or have a lot of residual haunting activity.

At the Rocklin home, we did not get any pictures with anomalies, nor did we get any EVPs on this day. Renee has gotten EVPs from this home while doing her own solo investigation.

Renee drove me over to the home in Lincoln. This home is up for sale. Perhaps the previous owners experienced paranormal activity in their home and this is why they moved? Renee on her solo investigation picked up an EVP of footsteps walking downstairs. The footsteps sounded like hard heels going back and forth and to a certain area and stopping. On this day, she would get another EVP of the same noise. When Renee’s niece was cleaning the bathroom a ping pong ball came out of nowhere and seemed to be tossed her way. Her niece also heard the sound of someone playing with a stick. The niece saw the ping pong ball bouncing on its own accord. The house is 4 years old and is built near Thunder Valley, near Indian land. It appears that this house may be built on haunted land. Renee has been to this house several times investigating and once felt a presence that seemed to want her to leave. When we first entered the house, it felt like the air conditioner was on, the house was extremely cold. Then in a matter of minutes, the house was baking and we were sweating. I had new batteries in my camera and the batteries drained immediately. One door near the patio had a huge amount of dead flies at the entry way. I could see no signs of anything for the flies to consume and I can’t determine why so many flies would be located by this door. This was unusual. As we investigated throughout the house, certain rooms were stuffier than other rooms, the atmosphere in the rooms felt thick and Renee and I, had a difficult time breathing. One week ago, Renee’s niece cleaned the bathtub, there was no water in the bathtub. We are here one week later and no one has been in this house and the bathtub now has water in it, that is 1/3 filled.

One of my photographs shows a strange black line shadow and next to the shadow is a bright glowing orb. I played back my recorder and I believe I have an EVP of a woman whispering and saying…”heh, heh, da God.”

Renee in her own words says:
“The only EVPs that I got were of the entrance; sounds of walking (with hard heel shoes), and sounds of banging against the floor or wall, and upstairs, there were sounds of the only thing I can explain was maybe cupboard door opening and closing, and a man clearing his throat (you were downstairs at this time). Did you notice that the tub with the green water in it, had dead flies in the water? Weird.”

Paul’s final thoughts:
Both homes I went to are fairly new and it is very possible that the land they are built on is haunted. Similar homes in the Pocket Area of Sacramento are built over old Portuguese cemeteries. When new owners moved into their new home, they discovered that their homes were haunted. This is very well documented and many of the owners of these homes have made their complaints to the County, but wish to remain anonymous. Thank you Renee for showing me these two homes. The one thing I will not forget from this investigation is how the home in Lincoln was so cold when we entered it and turned like a hot oven in a matter of minutes. That was very, very odd.
