Illuminating The Extraterrestrial Reptilian Agenda Conspiracy

There are people who genuinely believe that reptile extraterrestrials, who can disguise themselves as regular humans, have insinuated themselves into positions of power and are politically and economically calling the shots.

In fact, the conspiratorial speculation regarding reptilian extraterrestrial invasion and/or tampering has grown so pervasive that a relatively large online publication opted to recently summarize these views in an attempt to, well, put them in perspective.

The current reptilian narrative first started appearing in the early 1980′s, right about the time that UFO Budd Hopkins’ books on alien abduction were published. Hopkins and his colleagues were hypnotizing many individuals to uncover possible abduction events and some of his subjects began reporting a wide variety of alien types. The most commonly reported were variations on the classic grays, tall Nordic looking human, and darker, usually more ominous beings that seemed reptilian in appearance or behavior.

Another possible source for the reptilian narrative seems to derive from material that was passed to UFO researcher Paul Bennewitz during his investigation of cattle mutilations in New Mexico in the early 1980′s.

According to Greg Valdez, son of Gabe Valdez, the sheriff who personally investigated many of these same mutilations, Bennewitz was fed a narrative purporting to describe a reptilian/human/bovine genetic project near Dulce, New Mexico by military and intelligence operatives. They used Bennewitz’s personal belief in UFOs to plant disinformation that could distract attention from secret weapon’s testing.

Apparently, the Department of Energy was also secretly monitoring the effects of controlled underground nuclear detonations, done mostly without public knowledge, mainly for the purpose of fracking. These monitoring tests may well be the origin of the cattle mutilations in the first place.

That being said, the narrative of invading, or at least invasive, reptilian humanoids has become a powerful narrative in UFO contact communities.

At the same time, reptilian and serpent entities have played an important symbolic role in most civilizations. Most people know the story of the serpent tempting Adam and Eve in the Garden, but this is only one example.

Among the Sumerians, Akkadians and Babylonians, serpent beings were associated with wisdom, immortality and healing. In India, the nagas, or serpent people are considered an actual ancient race who similarly retain secret information about immortality and healing. There are ethnic groups in India who claim to be descendents of these naga ancestors.

In Chinese mythology, dragons and other flying serpent beings are understood to be beings of great power and wisdom, bequeathing the powers of sovereignty to the Emperor and the powers of immortality to Taoist sages who can harness their energy. The plumed serpent, Quetzacoatl, bringer of rebirth, civilization and warrior energy was worshiped by many peoples in Central America and Mexico.

Even the Cherokee of North America tell stories of the Uktana, the serpent people who are both feared and yet sought after for their hidden knowledge and powers over hunting. To possess the ‘uktana’ stone is to be free from disease and blessed with plentiful food.

In all these stories, the reptilian/serpent figures are similar in that they are keepers of vital knowledge that may control or vitally affect the course of life and they are difficult to summon and appease. They come and go as they please and can not be simply summoned at need. In this, perhaps the figure of the reptile represents a form of power that humans covet and want to be in control of themselves, rather than, seemingly, at it’s mercy.

Aliens in Ancient Egypt by Xaviant Haze is recent book which examines the possibility that reptilian humanoids may have been responsible for the initial flowering of Egyptian civilization. Haze describes what can best be called an ambivalent relationship between emergent humans and their reptilian overlords.

He implies that the reptilians may not have been true aliens, but a naturally evolved native species that, nonetheless, had made contact with extraterrestrials, and used the knowledge of such technologies to try to keep humans in their place. While reptiles may not have started out bad, they became corrupted in their quest to maintain humans under control.

It might be a normal thing for mammals to be a little uncomfortable in the face of their reptile cousins. After all, it was not a sure thing that we would evolve from that tiny rodent like creature which gave rise to all us furry ones in the shadow of the dinosaurs.

For Haze, this discomfort continues to be worked out and expressed in popular culture through the images of reptilian villains, like Lizard in Spider-Man and the Serpent Society in Marvel Comics. Haze believes there was an actual Brotherhood of the Serpent, composed of reptilian humanoids, in ancient Egypt, that controlled access to technological knowledge. Therefore, popular cultural memes are real expressions of an ancient tension which underlies the Nile civilization.

Whatever one might think of this thesis, the pervasiveness and importance of reptilian and serpentine imagery in many, if not most, civilization complexes is interesting. Humans tend to find reptiles either fascinating or repulsive, associating them with both passion and coldness, regeneration and pointless, cruel death. We like to think we’ve evolved above and beyond our ‘reptilian brain,‘ when, in fact, without it, we would cease to do most of the things that insure survival.
