The Arecibo message was beamed into space a single time (not repeated) via frequency modulated radio waves at a ceremony to mark the remodeling of the Arecibo radio telescope on 16 November 1974. It was aimed at the globular star cluster M13 some 25,000 light years away because M13 was a large and close collection of stars that was available in the sky at the time and place of the ceremony.[2] The message consisted of 1679 binary digits, approximately 210 bytes, transmitted at a frequency of 2380 MHz and modulated by shifting the frequency by 10 Hz, with a power of 1000 kW. The “ones” and “zeroes” were transmitted by frequency shifting at the rate of 10 bits per second. The total broadcast was less than three minutes.

The “Arecibo answer” is a crop circle (well, crop rectangle, to be accurate) that is purported to be a response to the “Arecibo message”, a piece of coded information about Earth and humanity which was first beamed into space in 1974. It appeared in 2001 near the Chilbolton radio telescope in Hampshire, UK

What you mean aliens came all the way from gawd knows where, just to destroy crops? I’m pretty sure aliens visiting Earth would have way better forms of communication. If they wanted the world to know of their existence, why not just broadcast it on all TV and radio channels?

    If aliens were here and interacting with various governments that hate each other, like America and Iran for example, why haven’t any of them come forward with evidence to prove the other government wrong making them look silly?
    
    If true it would be the only thing the opposing governments have been successful in covering up.

The original message was aimed at Globular Cluster M13, which is 25,000 light years away. If the message were intercepted, what kind of foolish alien race would decide that the appropriate reply was to go the UK (which is nowhere near Arecibo), mess up some crops, and leave a message that includes the Flying Spaghetti Monster?

Silliness abounds.
