Scientists Discovered the Egyptian Secret to Moving Huge Pyramid Stones
It all comes down to friction. See, the ancient Egyptians would transport their rocky cargo across the desert sands, from quarry to monument site with large sleds. Pretty basic sleds, basically just large slabs with upturned edges. Now, when you try to pull a large slab with upturned edges carrying a 2.5 ton load, it tends to dig into the sand ahead of it, building up a sand berm that must then be regularly cleared before it can become an even bigger obstacle.
Wet sand, however, doesn’t do this. In sand with just the right amount of dampness, capillary bridges—essentially microdroplets of water that bind grains of sand to one another through capillary action—form across the grains, which doubles the material’s relative stiffness. This prevents the sand from berming in front of the sled and cuts the force required to drag the sled in half. In half.
As a UvA press release explains,
The physicists placed a laboratory version of the Egyptian sledge in a tray of sand. They determined both the required pulling force and the stiffness of the sand as a function of the quantity of water in the sand. To determine the stiffness they used a rheometer, which shows how much force is needed to deform a certain volume of sand.
Experiments revealed that the required pulling force decreased proportional to the stiffness of the sand…A sledge glides far more easily over firm desert sand simply because the sand does not pile up in front of the sledge as it does in the case of dry sand.
These experiments served to confirm what the Egyptians clearly already knew, and what we probably already should have. Artwork within the tomb of Djehutihotep, which was discovered in the Victorian Era, depicts a scene of slaves hauling a colossal statue of the Middle Kingdom ruler and in it, a guy at the front of the sled is shown pouring liquid into the sand. You can see it in the image above, just to the right of the statue’s foot.
We can now finally put this scientific snipe hunt to rest and focus on how the hell Stonehenge got that way.

This is a complete load of crap. IF we are to believe that these structures were built at the time this article states using the methods described above. Then that is to say the follow things are true. in just a 100 years time they managed to corrugate water from a river miles away and bring it to a quarry that is also miles away (in the complete opposite direction) and then proceed to drag millions of solid stone that was millions of lbs heavy and then DRAG IT TO THE SITE?! cmon!!! this is the worst explanation yet!!! even with the decreased friction its still an exact science to the get the sand in the right state for it to work. on top of the obvious proof that these stone are actually a composite that was molded similar to the concrete we use today. but stronger, more durable, and unexplainable with modern science. People need to migrate from the idea that Egyptians were primal or lacked advanced technology. Then we need to look at the evidence and move the timeline of the pyramids back about 28,000 years to a period that actually makes sense. especially given the weathering of the rocks and the big tell all smoking gun that is the sphinx. the pyramids (all 22 of the major site in Egypt) were built along side the nile river. the geology of the site clearly shows that. The period of time in which the river existed that close to the pyramids was about 30,000 years ago. the weathering on the pyramids as well as the sphinx also show a period of intense water runoff and rain. that which Egypt has not seen since guess what?! 30,000 years ago. Lets start looking outside of the box and stop believing these were simple people with simple intentions. These were not tombs, ritual centers, or structures built to honor the “GODS” they were power plants of great proportions that powered the entire city. above that they were perfectly aligned to SEVERAL constellations and also built at the EXACT center of the earth. These people did not drag rocks across sand. stop insulting their memory and efforts by saying so. do some real research and then present a REAL story on how they were built. Not regurgitated GARBAGE for the mainstream media put out there to ease the minds of simpletons.
