Rephaim: Following The Dark Shadows

If you are inclined to study the occult, you find that it makes for a larger world. ‘Occult‘ is a word that frightens many people and there are people who confuse the word with cult. The dynamics of a cult are not at play when the multiverse opens up and reveals the abyss.

Things begin to unravel at an alarming rate and synchronicities create an air of mysticism that cannot be avoided. Taking a walk in the multiverse is to walk in a larger world.

All of the things that you have taken for granted: All objects, people and places which we have been taught is the material world seem to collapse upon itself and we have to somehow work in a bit of quantum mechanics into the mix in order to avoid sounding absolutely crazy.

It is time to admit that somewhere out there, we can hypothesize that histories and rules are being rewritten in order to accommodate what is unfolding in this unpredictable world.

The game is changing.

Human consciousness is being prepped and readied for the new sphere of influence that seems to be a bit more chaotic and from a darker realm of existence.

The frightening thing is as the darkness gathers we may find ourselves believing that is some plot of the devil when in reality we are actually seeing a more intimate view of the true inner core of the human psyche.

It is difficult to describe the various layers of reality and how the multiverse can be compared to Russian nesting dolls where we take apart one only to find another that is similar, but most definitely is not the same. My job as a reporter of all things para-political and paranormal is to try and inform you of the hidden things that may be important later in our various quests for discovery and truth.

Aleister Crowley once commented that magic is just a disease of language and thought. Crowley also saw magic in a quantum sort of way when he stated that magic was the science and art of causing change to occur in conformity with will.

To sum up everything that Crowley had professed, is simply that magic is just the manipulation of words. As the shaman was simply a storyteller in the past, writers today are like the shamans of old. Their ability to create very frightening characters is a form of magic.

When these frightening characters leap from books, television shows and movies we realize that perhaps they spark or kindle a relationship with dark archetypes that are already programmed into our core belief system. The application of magic in writing is still within the “the Science and Art of causing Change to occur in conformity with Will.”

Recently, I watched a disturbing horror film called, “The Quiet Ones” which is loosely based on a true story that is timelier now than ever because of the recent tragic events that happened in Wisconsin and the horrific stabbing of a young girl. Her attackers believed that the act of violence would somehow conjure a fictitious character known as Slenderman.

“The Quiet Ones” perfectly illustrates the meaning behind empowering a meme or an idea to the point of having it manifest in our reality.

As Rhino’s Horror notes in the article ‘The Quiet Ones’ and its True Story’:

“In the 1970′s there was a group of Canadian parapsychologists who aimed to conduct an experiment that would create a ghost. In doing so it would prove their theory that those unexplained bumps in the night are actually products of the human mind.

World-renown poltergeist expert Dr. Alan Robert George Owen created the group known as TSPR (Toronto Society for Psychical Research) consisting of eight people — Dr. Owen’s wife, an industrial designer, an accountant, a housewife, a bookkeeper and a sociology student.

A psychologist named Dr. Joel Whitton also attended many of the experiments as an observer.

The experiments (which became known as the Philip Experiment) began in 1972 where their first task was to create a fictional historical character. Essentially what they did was pull “facts” out of thin air to attach to the life of this fictional character that they were creating. In doing so, they wrote a biography of this made up person, who they named Philip Aylesford.

In his biography they stated that he was a 17th century English noble who was married to a beautiful, yet cold and unfriendly wife named Dorothea. One day, he ran into a beautiful gypsy girl named Margo who he almost instantly fell in love with… Needlessly to say, Philip and Margo became secret lovers. But as most secrets go, it didn’t last forever because his wife, Dorothea, found out about Margo and accused her of witchcraft.

Because Philip was much too worried about his reputation, he didn’t protest the idea of Margo being a witch, resulting in her being burned at the stake… He then later was stricken with remorse, in which the only way he could deal with it was to fight in the battle of Diddington. One morning he was found dead on the battlefield, and Philip Aylesford was no more.

The Owen group didn’t stop at a simple biography, however, as one of the members even sketched a portrait of their newly created man. So what was the point of going through all the trouble of giving their fictional character a biography and even a picture? The reason was so that the group could be completely immersed in the non-existence of Philip.”

Meaning, they could be completely immersed in the character thus creating a straw man to empower and give life to.

This is similar to what Victor Surge did with his Slenderman character. He wasn’t just some imaginary horror icon; he had a background and a history that mimicked the history of the Rephaim, the shadow entities that are under the control of the darker side of the universe. There were woodcuts and 15th century paintings who actually depicted the Rephaim, Der Ritter and Der Grossman as children eaters, and attackers.

This type of child hunter or child eater has been around since the times of Lilith, Lamashtu, and Moloch. The child eater has been a Saturnalian dark father staple of horror since the beginning of time and icons like Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees and Michael Meyers and even Darth Vader a play on the Dutch words for dark father have all been bogeymen that have notorious backgrounds where children are the victims of their murderous escapades.

The Owen group for months attempted to contact their imaginary character, in order to show that the mind has the power to create their own imaginary ghosts. There was no contact with Philip for months.

Then, one day during a séance, an entity claiming to be Philip terrorized the group of scientists with a few aggressive moves. He would move furniture around, cause electric light bulbs to explode and pound loudly on doors.

There was a documentary made about the experiment; however, there was never a moment in the experiment where Philip materialized and since Philip would cause lights and electrical appliances to explode – cameras were unable to record the events properly.

This put into question the validity of the experiment.

Some claim that what the experiment proves is that ghosts do not exist and that they are simply created by our minds. What is lost on the critics, however, is the remarkable probability that you can actually think something into reality.

Meaning, that magic and causal engineering are not fallacy and that what may be just an idea, can be empowered magnified and then released into the ether.

It can be a protective entity like the Jewish Golem, or an evil monster like Frankenstein’s creation which quite literally translated is “man of stone” which was meant to be the counterfeit golem.

In fact, in histories written about Mary Shelley, it is believed that after she wrote the story of Frankenstein’s creation, the monster actually materialized in front of her.

The creature described by Mary Shelley was hardly the cartoon image that we have associated with the monster today. Nor was he the ugly character that was a bloodthirsty killer. The “creation” of Doctor Frankenstein was like a child in every sense of the word. The being was quite beautiful and was wholesome to the eye. The desire of every woman.

To Mary, the man who was created from the dead cells of human beings was very real.

She wrote what the creature looked like when he appeared in her room.

“How can I describe my emotions at this catastrophe, or delineate the wretch whom with such infinite pains and care I had endeavored to form? His yellow skin scarcely covered the work of his muscles and the arteries beneath. His hair was of lustrous black, an flowing; his teeth of a pearly whiteness.” — Mary Shelley, Frankenstein, Ch. 5

While Mary Shelley claims the man in her room was beautiful in every sense of the word, he admittedly wasn’t perfect. There was something wrong with him. All of his beauty was scarred with his watery eyes that appeared to have no pupils or Iris. They were white. His face was shriveled against his cheekbones and his lips had no color, they were purplish black.

Contact with the Rephaim or the dark entity of the abyss is a process that the Owens experiment demonstrated quite crudely. Perhaps the Owens group did actually contact the world of dark shadows and an angry entity had an opportunity to act in accordance to the wishes of the group.

A perfect example of how sympathetic magic can bring an imaginary character into the real world is Alan Moore’s agent Codename V in ‘V for Vendetta’. Alan Moore is a practicing magician and in ‘V for Vendetta’ the masked antihero makes a very poignant statement that “ideas are bulletproof.”

Well, now we can say that memes – and eventually tulpas – can manifest for the sake of a social movement as the infamous group “Anonymous” has now adopted the mask worn by the character V.

V is now in the real world and his face is seen at protests and during rallies for human rights reminding us of how injustice exists and that the image and tulpa of V is a very real entity now, as those who where his costume and mask are agents of his magic and his power.

Now, the media is now taking a crack at the esoteric by trying to explain how a fictional character like Slenderman influenced two 12-year-old girls to try and kill their friend.

The media would love to tell you that the Internet is a frightening place and that the evil web is a place where satanic websites await to turn your kids into demonic murderous terrorists.

However, it is not that simple.

The mind is a powerful tool, and we can conclude that there are all sorts of realities behind us simply imploding as what is in front of us is the reality we know just beyond our feet. This is great if the world and the esoteric were simple things to explain to children and there are some children that are smarter than others.

Unfortunately, one cannot test the multiverse and the idea of a multiverse with imaginary friends like Santa Claus and Mickey Mouse being real beings has not been proven to be a reality.

However, as I have stated before, there are times when things get caught in the safety net of reality and when they do we explain it away as a miracle, an anomaly or just plain magic.

When your mind plays tricks on you, it is up to you as a sane person to play tricks back.

In the case of the Wisconsin girls that wanted to kill for Slenderman, they simply were not equipped mentally to differentiate between reality and fantasy. So for the moment a line was crossed with tragic results.

Sadly, it seems that one of our limitations as humans is that our brains can only process a single reality. While most people use less than three percent of their brain, we can speculate that perhaps the unused 97 percent is a barrier that keeps us from venturing into those other proposed universes and multiverse.

There is a blindness that occurs when we get glimpse of the abyss. The entities appear in the corners of our eyes and in the dark corners of perception. When our shields are down we tend to see these entities – even the fictional ones in our reality. Then by some miracle the shields go up which makes us blind to other universes, and any anomalous events where our senses take in some element of another universe is rationalized away by that 90 some odd percent of our brains.

The thought in existence creates possibility. In the ether it sits and it becomes a tulpa, just a thought or a form to manifest in reality a legend in the making. Naive logic is an amazing starting point for legends and myths.

All things in a liar’s paradox can be analyzed and proven to be either true or false. Therefore, the old trick of the self-referential sentence applies here.

“If this sentence is true then Slenderman exists. Germany Borders China and Mickey Mouse is not a cartoon character.”

It is true that the sentence can be false, but it opens the dialogue for a great discussion about quantum mechanics and the multiverse. Every claim that is made should be met with all kinds of critical analysis and question.

It must be put to the test and not just written off because it is uncomfortable.

It is uncertainty that keeps the debate alive, and it can be proposed that magic empowers the impossible. It maintains its effectiveness in order to achieve the miracle.

It can be used to our advantage – or to our doom.
