Date: 1959 Time: afternoon
It was Reg Chapman’s habit to go out on the moorlands of Winter Hill in the afternoons for “peace and quiet”. One day, whilst sitting on a seat in the practically deserted countryside he looked up, and apparently from nowhere, there appeared in front of him a being “with a majestic aura” looking almost like the man in the Sandeman’s port wine. This being did not speak but communi…cated telepathically. (Reg refuses to share whatever information was imparted to him). After this ‘contact’ Reg felt sure something else would happen but did not know what form it would take, so later that day he returned to the same spot on Winter Hill anticipating a similar visit but instead he became aware of an object “about the length of a cricket pitch away”. It was shaped like a horseshoe and hovered just above ground level. A “visitant” appeared from an aperture in the craft (presumably a door slid back). The visitor was similarly dressed to the earlier visitor, having black hair, a black beard, dark eyes and very pale skin, “like a Jewish Rabbi in the streets of Manchester.” The “vibrations” from his were “very strong indeed”. Again, communication was telepathic and lasted several minutes. When returning to the craft he did not turn his back on Reg, but glided backwards like the projection of an image from somewhere else, receding and gradually getting smaller.
The craft itself was “large” larger than an “Adamski scout ship” and as the aperture closed the saucer moved; gaseous vapor appeared but did not seem to be connected with its propulsion. It made a “sort of half circle movement” around Reg, and “whoosh” it was gone, leaving a small curl of vapor and an astonished man behind.
