THE STIRRING ECHOES AT IMBRIE HOUSE (Video)

There are many people in the United States that live with a secret that is walled off from the rest of society. They keep their secret within the family so that nobody suspects that anything odd or crazy is going on behind closed doors. Through time there has been hard speculation that some or most hauntings or occult behaviors have been family secrets.
Keeping various hauntings as family secrets is as American as apple pie and black coffee and even after hundreds of years of traditional hauntings you will find families that take the ghostly secrets of family haunts to their graves. It is not quite clear as to why this happens. There are some who believe that their religious commitments may somehow be tarnished if it were to be revealed that a ghost or demonic spirit lurks within the homestead.
There are also people who have reputations that may be tarnished if they reveal that perhaps the home they live in has other occupants that have decided not to leave and so the secret of the stirring of echoes remains within the walls of a home only to be found later when the home changes ownership or when it becomes am edifice that is marked has a historic place by the fathers of a township.
When people think of haunted houses, they often think that it is a requirement that someone has to die there, or there has to be a traumatic event that would cause a haunting.
There are some cases however where a house literally decides to give up its secrets. This is known as a residual haunting. Residual hauntings are non threatening hauntings where spirits within an area seem to do the same things over and over — or appear to be doing the same types of repetitive actions.
It is quite laterally an echo in transit from the past to the present and it is stirred when the living enter into an area that has a rich history and has an important place in an area’s history.
That is why many of the areas where the civil war was fought are considered haunted as the events of the war keep playing back over and over again. It is not necessarily an evil presence; it is much like a recording that seems to play over and over again on a loop.
In the field of a paranormal there can be spirits that stir like echoes along a Mobius twist. In other words in the middle of a haunted area there are two dimensional sides, however only one is perceived by the investigator. In a Mobius twist two sides converge which reduces the exclusivity of both, therefore creating an effect of mirroring the past and the present. In the moment the Mobius twist converges there is a point where the investigator can call out to the ghosts.
The ghost theoretically sees the investigator in the future and the investigator sees the past and in a small moment in time communication can be had. The communication can sound as if it is in reverse; however it is audible and is literally a call by the ghost to an echo in the Mobius twist. The ghost in its own time line sees a shadow, and what we see is and echo.
The ghost we see is emblematic of the Mobius twist given that it collapses the living and the dead into one simultaneous figure. It is neither fully dead nor alive in the same way a Mobius strip has neither an inside nor an outside.
In a haunted house that is residually producing ghosts that are ambivalent, we must understand that in most cases these entities will not attack, or even try to communicate.
However there are times when they do appear to communicate or even see you. When and if they do, which is rare, the ghost will act as if the person in the room is just someone who is there converging and coexisting simultaneously in the phantasm.
Each ghost is an image in the mirror, and they see you in the ethereal mirrors that line up perfectly in the Mobius twist. It is a world inverted and a dimension bent in order for this remarkable event to happen.
Last Saturday I was with Roger Clooten, a good friend of mine and a paranormal investigator for Northwest Ghost recon. We were out in a rural area just outside of Portland Oregon, called Hillsboro. We were actually attending a marching band competition where his son performed in a high school band.
During the competition the weather turned very wet and windy. The competition was cancelled and so Roger told me that we should go somewhere and have lunch. We ended up at a restaurant that was adjacent to the old Imbrie farm house. The Farm house is now a historical attraction as the courtyard and surroundings have been turned into a restaurant and a wine tasting bar. However the old Imbrie house has kept many secrets and one of the greatest secrets is that the house is actively haunted by the Imbrie Family. Roger told me that he and several members of Northwest ghost recon were allowed into the house to do an investigation and that the house was actively haunted.
The Imbrie family arrived in the mid-1840s as part of Oregon’s first flood of white settlers. The Imbries came to Oregon from the Midwest, but the family’s patriarch, James Imbrie, Jr., was born and raised in the Kingdom of Fife on the southeast coast of Scotland. James’ sons, James III and Robert, each developed farms in Washington County. James’ area was in North Plains, while brother Robert took over and expanded a neighboring farm, where the current buildings are located. Robert immigrated to Oregon via ship around Cape Horn.
Robert built a granary in the mid-1850s, and then a decade later built the three-story, Italian Villa-style home that still stands today. It took three years beginning in 1866 to complete construction on the home, which they named the Gables.
At this point, the family included twelve children and Robert’s mother. During this time the family raised Morgan horses as draft animals to sell to other farmers. Once Robert’s son Frank took over, he turned the farm into a dairy and added the unique eight sided barn around 1900.
Later generations of the family lived in the home, adding electricity and indoor plumbing in the 1930s. James Hay, Frank’s son, transitioned the farm into grain and hay production, including barley that was used in Blitz-Weinhard beer in the mid-1900s.
By the 1970s the family had stopped the agrarian activities, and in 1977 Gary, James, Jr.’s great-great-grandson opened the Imbrie Farmstead Restaurant at the old home.
The property is now home to the Cornelius Pass Roadhouse, a brewpub.
The Imbrie house and the family who owned it seemed to be simple people. There were no murders on the property, no trauma or anything that would spur a typical haunting however there was in the Imbrie house, they had what was called a “Birthing and Dying Room,” which remained closed except when needed for delivering babies or for laying out the recently departed!
So the brood that was kept at the household took care of the birthing and the dead right on the premises.
The haunting of the farmhouse was observed as the old white house became the centerpiece for the Cornelius pass pub. Those who have been inside the old farmhouse have heard footsteps in the attic, cold spots felt all over, lights turning on by themselves, and doors opening.
Northwest ghost recon was asked to investigate the home and what they found was an actively haunted house. Many of the photos in the home show ghostly appearances of Robert and Frank Imbrie. There are also recorded ghost voices that indicate that the family was Christian, and at times address Frank Imbrie by name.
There are examples of photos showing family members with children present and also a video that was shot near the basement adjacent to the wine cellar where a woman is seen and a little boy.
In the Imbrie farmhouse attic there are shots of shadowy figures standing I the window looking over the compound and strange orbs and mists that are seen on the property.
The house’s foundation and parts of basement are made with Limestone, Quartz and Magnetite deposits. It is believed that these components may be responsible for the advent of the residual haunting. Limestone, quartz and magnetite supposedly hold information, such as an event in history, and when the information is released a residual haunting may occur.
Limestone is known as a conduct and enhancer of electromagnetic energy and so there is a breeding ground for unusual occurrences.
Testing the theory that limestone, quartz, and/or magnetite can generate a residual haunting is almost impossible to do in a lab. One way to test the theory is find out were residual hauntings are taking place and log them down. Then you have to see if the United States Geological Survey (USGS) has ever done a field survey on that location. If they did a survey then you can see what rocks/minerals are present at that location. If you look at the facts about each rock/mineral, then you can base any possibilities that a residual haunting can even occur.
Magnetite is a mineral that is mainly found in igneous rocks, but also found in metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. Magnetite is highly magnetic. In the paranormal field there are a few theories that are based around magnetism.
One of the theories is that when a ghost/spirit manifests it will alter the magnetic field around that area. Another theory is that if there is a high magnetic field around, the ghost/spirit can draw in the energy from the magnetic field using the energy to manifest.
In the area near Cornelius Pass where the Imbrie Farmhouse is located there are high tension electric wires that pass over the house. The various High tension wires lead to an electric substation across the street.
This could very well be why the house is haunted as well. Quartz has the properties to possible generate a residual haunting. Quartz is a basic transmitter for radio, television and radar. An interesting thing about quartz also is that doubly terminated quartz crystals are often found in limestone cavities. So it may be possible that people thought that it was Limestone that was creating a residual haunting when it could have been quartz that was really causing it to happen.
There is always a resonance that occurs in areas of electromagnetic energy, and according to Dr. Jonathan Burgess who is a member of Northwest Ghost recon using electromagnetic energy, either by using a Telsa Coil or a Van Der Graaf generator is like using an old train transformer and bare wires in mud to get night crawlers.
The Northwest ghost recon investigation was very thorough in collecting EVP that appeared in both forward and reverse sound indicating the Mobius twist and capturing images as if they appeared through mirrors once again documenting both the Mobius twist and Limestone attraction to paranormal activities.
There are some people that see hauntings as something demonic or evil, when in reality there may be a scientific explanation to what some places are haunted and some aren’t. The more we learn about hauntings and explore them for scientific and historic purposes we may find that they are merely a stirring of echoes that appear because of information that may have tendency to unravel and reveal all kinds of secrets about he universe and what we call the supernatural.
